Bottega Veneta’s Spring/Summer 2027 Show is About the Enduring Power of Craft

Bottega Veneta is widely respected for its commitment to artisanal craftsmanship in high fashion.

For Spring/Summer 2027, creative director Louise Trotter presented a collection that honoured the brand’s heritage while introducing ease and innovation.

During Milan Fashion Week, the iconic intrecciato weave was reimagined to convey lightness, movement, and understated sophistication, reflecting the transition to warmer weather.

This collection represents a thoughtful evolution rather than a dramatic change.

Trotter emphasized craft as both the foundation and highlight, resulting in a wardrobe that is wearable yet refined, neutral yet enlivened by colour, and rooted in leather while incorporating breathable openwork textures.

At Bottega Veneta, intrecciato, the interwoven leather technique that has long served as the house’s unofficial logo, remains sacred.

For SS27, Trotter used the weave as inspiration rather than limitation.

She introduced both literal and abstract interpretations, such as a basket-weave T-shirt for added texture and an oversized intrecciato tote designed to resemble raffia for a natural, sun-ready look.

Longline coats with side knots revealed lighter cotton dresses beneath, creating effortless layered looks. Fringed scarf belts added sculptural dimension to relaxed suits.

These details reflect Trotter’s broader approach. She described the collection as an exploration of natural fibers and lightweight leathers, with craft at the center of the brand.

By simplifying silhouettes and reducing bulk while maintaining structure, she designed garments that move with the body. Leather jackets and trousers remained key pieces but felt light, achieving an airy feel without the sheer fabrics or heavy lace common on other Milan runways.

Texture was a focal point.

Crochet overshirts offered breezy, handmade openwork layers. A macramé-inspired tank with a gauzy, pleated maxi skirt demonstrated the collection’s balance of structure and movement.

Fringe was a prominent motif.

Two skirts, one in soft lavender and another in an earthy multicolour, moved in elegant elliptical shapes. On a dress, fringe created a trompe-l’oeil floral pattern that highlighted movement.

Colour appeared selectively against a neutral base of whites, beiges, and earth tones. Butter-yellow trousers and a lilac blouse, worn by Mariacarla Boscono, introduced a springtime feel.

A tangerine-orange scoop-neck leather midi dress provided a vibrant highlight.

Subsequent looks featured pastels, soft pinks, and vivid red or coral, including a gathered red dress over a matching pleated skirt. These accents kept the palette dynamic and emphasized an optimistic seasonal transition.

Silhouettes progressed throughout the show.

Strong-shouldered coats introduced the collection, followed by looser forms such as balloon volumes, draped blouses, cocoon skirts with tucked hems, and refined tailoring.

The garments were designed for comfort as temperatures rise, avoiding tight fits. Handmade white lace, chunky crochet, and web-like surfaces added lightness to the later looks.

Accessories supported the focus on craftsmanship. Bags included shoppers, maxi totes, and elongated clutches, many with updated intrecciato designs.

Hats referenced natural materials with leather-effect straw styles.

Footwear remained elegant and practical, including rounded-toe pumps, soft ballerinas, and low woven sandals that complemented the collection’s relaxed feel.

The presentation highlighted craft beyond clothing. Guests sat on lacquered cardboard stools by Berlin-based artist Ilya Goldman Gubin, each uniquely shaped to emphasize that artistry at Bottega Veneta extends to every detail.

The front row included Julianne Moore, Tyler, the Creator, and Jacob Elordi, who attended in support of Kendall Jenner.

Jenner closed the show in an asymmetric black dress with sculptural shoulders and balloon volume, adding star presence without detracting from the collection.
