AMVCA Nominations 2024: The Complete List of Nominees

As excitement builds for the 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCAs), organizers have unveiled the list of nominees across various award categories.

The nominees for this year’s AMVCA were announced during a special broadcast on Sunday, March 24, 2024, across all Africa Magic channels, generating enthusiasm among viewers across the continent. The prestigious awards ceremony, which celebrates excellence in African cinema and television, is set to take place on May 10th and 11th, 2024.

Dr. Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and Channels, MultiChoice West Africa, expressed delight in revealing the nominees during the broadcast, commending the exceptional quality of entries and recognizing the diversity and creativity evident in African cinema and television.

This year, the performance awards have been simplified, and now categorized as Best Actor and Best Actress in leading or supporting roles. There are twenty-seven award categories, including sixteen categories where winners are not chosen by voting, nine categories where the audience gets to vote, and two special recognition awards – Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer Awards.

Notable films like “Jagun Jagun,” “Mami Water,” “A Tribe Called Judah,” and “Breath of Life” have received significant nominations in these categories.

Nigerian on-air personality, Ikponmwosa Osakioduwa, is set to return as the host of the event, bringing his signature charm and wit to the stage.

Meanwhile, acclaimed filmmaker Femi Odugbemi, who has served as the head juror for the AMVCA seven times, will once again lead the panel of judges responsible for selecting the winners in the non-voting categories, alongside other esteemed industry professionals

Voting remains open until April 28th, 2024, allowing ample time for fans to show their support and appreciation for the exceptional talent showcased throughout the year. Votes can be cast conveniently on the Africa Magic website.

The award show will be broadcast live across all Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv on May 11th, bringing the excitement and glamour of the AMVCA directly to viewers’ screens.
