On May 19, 2026, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary.

Meghan Markle commemorated the occasion by sharing previously unseen photographs from their 2018 royal wedding, providing an intimate look at the event. The Instagram posts featured the caption: “Eight years ago today…” The images by photographer Chris Allerton capture candid moments from both the ceremony and reception, offering new perspectives on the day.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were married on May 19, 2018, at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. The ceremony combined royal tradition with modern elements, reflecting their backgrounds.

Meghan wore a Givenchy gown designed by Clare Waight Keller, featuring a minimalist silhouette, bateau neckline, and a 9-foot train. She accessorised with the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau tiara; a veil embroidered with flowers from all 53 Commonwealth nations and included a piece of fabric from her first date with Harry sewn inside.

Harry wore the Blues and Royals frock coat uniform, reflecting his military service. Guests included members of the British royal family and celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Serena Williams, Priyanka Chopra, George and Amal Clooney, the Beckhams, and Idris Elba, who served as DJ. Elton John performed at the reception, including “Tiny Dancer” among his songs.

The newly released photos highlight private, behind-the-scenes moments. Black-and-white images show the couple in the chapel cloisters, Harry admiring Meghan’s bouquet, and the pair during their official portrait session.

Evening photos capture them dancing at the Frogmore House reception, including a kiss surrounded by guests. While some images appeared in their 2022 Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan, many are new to the public.

Life After the Wedding: Love, Family, and New Adventures

Eight years later, Harry and Meghan have established their life in Montecito, California, away from royal duties. They have two children: Prince Archie, age 7, and Princess Lilibet, who turns 5 in June.

Their anniversary occurs between their children’s birthdays. The family recently visited Disneyland to celebrate, and Meghan shared photos with her mother, Doria Ragland.

Despite media scrutiny and their departure from senior royal roles in 2020, the couple continues their philanthropic work through the Archewell Foundation. Recently, they undertook projects including a four-day trip to Australia, their first as working royals since 2018, where they participated in business and charitable activities.

Meghan has discussed both the challenges and rewards of their public life. Both remain committed to causes such as the Invictus Games and mental health advocacy.

Their partnership has evolved from a royal romance to a family-focused life centred on privacy, purpose, and mutual support. According to past sources, the couple often celebrates privately while fulfilling their roles as parents and advocates.

The Sussexes’ story resonates as a modern fairy tale with real-world challenges. From their wedding in Windsor to their current life in California, Harry and Meghan have represented a relationship that crosses borders and traditions. The release of these anniversary photos reaffirms their intent to share meaningful moments selectively.

As they begin their ninth year of marriage, the Duke and Duchess are expected to continue their media projects, family activities, and philanthropic work. Their partnership remains stronger.
