Olandria X Brandon Blackwood Announce Doll-Like Handbag Collaboration
Published: May 25, 2026 Last Updated 16 seconds ago by Evelyn Adenike
In an industry where authenticity can seem manufactured, Olandria Carthen and Brandon Blackwood have introduced a handbag collaboration that reflects genuine modern style.
Featuring a playful, hyper-feminine “doll-like” aesthetic, this partnership combines Blackwood’s structured luxury design with Carthen’s bold “Bama Barbie” persona. The collection launches on May 27, 2026, marking a significant collaboration between an emerging style figure and an established designer.
This collaboration represents early support, shared cultural roots, and unapologetic femininity in an industry that values originality.
The Story Behind the Collaboration
Olandria Carthen, known from Love Island USA Season 7, earned the “Bama Barbie” nickname for her distinctive style and confidence. A Tuskegee University graduate with a degree in logistics, she quickly transitioned from reality TV to high fashion, walking in New York Fashion Week for Sergio Hudson and appearing at major events.
Photo Courtesy Brandon Blackwood, a Brooklyn-born designer of Jamaican and Chinese heritage, founded Brandon Blackwood New York in 2015 after studying neuroscience at Bard College. His experience includes internships at Elle and Nylon, and he is recognised for creating impactful, statement-making bags.
Blackwood received widespread recognition in 2020 for his “End Systemic Racism” mini-tote. His designs have been worn by Beyoncé, Cardi B, and Lupita Nyong’o. He has also been named to the TIME100 Next list and received CFDA recognition.
Their partnership began when Blackwood supported Carthen early in her post-Love Island career, while others in the industry were hesitant. “Brandon was actually one of the few designers that supported me in the very beginning,” Carthen shared. This early support established the foundation for their collaboration.
Photo Courtesy Blackwood noted, “Ola has been rocking the BB bags so well, and I love who she represents. It’s a collab that does not feel forced at all.”
The Olandria x Brandon Blackwood collection updates Blackwood’s signature silhouettes with Carthen’s input, resulting in four versatile pieces suitable for day-to-night wear:
- O-Zip Mini Trunk: A compact, sculptural take on Blackwood’s iconic trunks with wraparound zippers (a first for the brand) and gold hardware.
Photo Courtesy - O-Vanity Case: A feminine essential inspired by Carthen’s glamorous style.

Photo Courtesy Available in “Bama Barbie” pink, hot pink, and jet black, each piece includes an engraved mirror with Carthen’s name, joint branding, and a matching pink dust bag. The designs focus on small, sculptural forms intended to serve as personal statements.
The campaign visuals highlight a hyper-feminine, polished, doll-like aesthetic, featuring exaggerated contrasts and makeup by Painted by Esther. The energetic shoot includes music by Megan Thee Stallion, Rihanna, and Beyoncé. Carthen described the atmosphere as electric, marking her entry into editorial spaces.
Unlike many short-lived influencer partnerships, this collaboration is notable for its depth. Both Carthen and Blackwood have overcome scepticism: Blackwood by pursuing nontraditional fashion paths, and Carthen by establishing her influence beyond reality TV. Their success is rooted in embracing individuality.
Blackwood reflected on his journey: “The more authentic I was… the more attention I got.” This philosophy is evident in the collection, which highlights bold style, cultural pride, and personal storytelling.
For those interested in “luxury handbags 2026,” “Black-owned designer collaborations,” or “It-Girl accessories,” this collection offers a blend of high fashion and wearable pieces that appeal to a new generation seeking representation and substance.

The collection launches May 27, 2026, at 12 pm EST on Brandon Blackwood’s website. Early previews indicate these pieces may become collector’s items for those interested in feminine, sculptural luxury.
As Carthen advances her modelling and influencing career and Blackwood grows his brand, this partnership represents a new generation of fashion creators focused on building communities. It is a tribute to supporters, culture, and creative freedom.
Whether you are interested in the collection’s pink tones, detailed design, or compelling backstory, the Olandria x Brandon Blackwood collection offers more than handbags. According to the duo, it is about carrying confidence, heritage, and self-expression into every setting.
