Serena Williams Wore a Gorgeous Sequined Black Gown at the CFDA Fashion Awards

Serena Williams, the renowned tennis superstar, made a stunning appearance at the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards (CFDA) ceremony held at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC. All eyes were on her as she arrived to accept the prestigious Fashion Icon Award, previously given to fashion luminaries such as Naomi Campbell, Zendaya, and Beyonce.

As Serena walked the red carpet, she exuded elegance and glamour in a breathtaking black sequined gown. Designed by CFDA Chairman Thom Browne, the dress featured dramatic sleeves and a trailing train, adding to the overall allure of her look. Accessorizing with exquisite jewelry from David Yurman and sporting her long golden tresses in a chic low ponytail, Serena radiated confidence and beauty.

“Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve used fashion as an outlet to express myself – fashion gave me the confidence to step on the court and own who I was, and where I knew I was going,” Williams told CFDA prior to the event.

“My dream of owning my own brand, S by Serena, has become a reality and throughout my career I have been blessed to collaborate with the most established designers and the most exciting up-and-coming creatives,’ she continued. “I have had so much fun learning my style and allowing it to change as my life has evolved, but I’ve always held one thing true – fashion is for everyone, no matter your size, race, or income.”

The 42-year-old retired athlete, who recently became a mom for the second time, expressed her gratitude for being honored with the Fashion Icon Award. She said she felt “incredibly honored to be receiving the prestigious Fashion Icon Award from the CFDA,” acknowledging the impact her style and fashion choices have had both on and off the tennis court.

William’s journey has not been easy after retirement, as she admitted on Twitter in December. The transition into retired life has proven challenging for the superstar, who spent her entire life in constant competition and preparation for tournaments and games. The newfound free time has been an adjustment, but Williams continues to navigate this phase of her life with grace and determination.

In addition to her remarkable achievements in tennis, Serena is a proud mother to two daughters. Her second daughter, Adira River Ohanian, was born in August, joining her older sister Olympia. Serena shares these precious moments of motherhood with her husband, Alexis Ohanian, creating a beautiful and fulfilling life outside of her career.
