Elle Fanning embraced an Effie Trinket-inspired look with notable flair.

On October 28, 2026, she attended the London fan screening of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping in a pale pink Robert Wun couture gown that blended balletcore elements with Panem’s Capitol-inspired theatrical style.

The highlight was a striking headpiece resembling a vintage music box, featuring a spinning ballerina figurine.

The event at Westfield London marked the official kickoff of the film’s press tour. Sunrise on the Reaping, directed by Francis Lawrence and based on Suzanne Collins’s prequel novel, arrives in theaters on November 20, 2026.

Set 24 years before the original Hunger Games trilogy, it follows a young Haymitch Abernathy (Joseph Zada) during the 50th Hunger Games, with Fanning portraying a formative version of Effie Trinket—the flamboyant escort and stylist previously played by Elizabeth Banks.

Fanning and her longtime stylist Samantha McMillen selected Look 19 from Robert Wun’s Fall/Winter 2026 haute couture collection, a design well-suited for method dressing.

The gown featured a gradient of pink shades, with a strapless corset bodice beneath a sculptural breastplate or peplum layer that appeared to peel away from the body.

The skirt flared into multiple tiers of tulle, reminiscent of a classical tutu, using over 390 feet of tulle and nearly 200 feet of silk organza for dramatic volume.

The standout accessory was the matching pink headpiece, designed as a pillbox or fascinator base supporting a platform with a miniature ballerina figurine posed before a mirror, reminiscent of a music box.

The ballerina spun, adding a functional element. The headpiece rose above Fanning’s updo, directly referencing Effie’s ornate fascinators and Capitol-inspired styling.

She completed the look with blush-toned pointed pumps, a sparkling Cartier choker and bracelet, and soft, rosy makeup that highlighted the gown’s structure.

Fanning appeared engaged and enthusiastic on the carpet, interacting with theatrical set pieces such as oversized snake and bird sculptures among floral and mossy backdrops.

Effie Trinket remains one of the franchise’s most distinctive style icons, known for bright colors, dramatic silhouettes, and elaborate headpieces. By merging childhood fantasy with couture design, Fanning and McMillen presented a visual interpretation of Effie’s early years that is both playful and precise.

The balletcore elements also reflect a broader 2020s trend, with stars like Rosalía and Olivia Rodrigo incorporating tutus, pointe references, and soft pinks into high-fashion looks.

Robert Wun’s collection reimagined childhood archetypes for adults, making the ballerina motif especially relevant.

Fanning’s interpretation emphasized romance in the skirt’s movement while retaining the original runway headpiece, further strengthening the Effie connection.

As the first major red-carpet event for Sunrise on the Reaping, Fanning’s London appearance indicates her commitment to exploring the role’s sartorial potential.

Fellow cast members, including Mckenna Grace, Joseph Zada, Glenn Close, and Whitney Peak, also attended, contributing to an evening of theatrical fashion that reflected the film’s dystopian opulence.

The blend of technical couture, narrative alignment with Effie, and visual impact makes this one of the season’s most memorable early press-tour moments.

With the film’s November 20 release approaching, audiences can anticipate more inventive, character-driven fashion from Fanning and McMillen. The music-box ballerina look has set a high standard, leaving fans eager for future designs.

With this appearance, Elle Fanning showed how imaginative, precise method dressing can be a powerful promotional tool.

The pink Robert Wun gown and spinning ballerina headpiece conveyed a narrative of transformation, theatricality, and the enduring appeal of a character who understands that in the Capitol, fashion represents power, performance, and personality.
