Supermodel Anok Yai made a highly anticipated return to the runway at the Chanel Fall/Winter 2026 show during Paris Fashion Week. Following a hiatus due to a life-threatening illness involving sepsis and a congenital heart-lung defect, her appearance was a testament to resilience and strength.
Under Matthieu Blazy’s creative direction in his debut collection for Chanel, Anok Yai embodied the brand’s blend of elegance and modernity, reaffirming her status as a leading figure in the industry.
The Chanel Fall/Winter 2026 collection in Paris focused on essential cuts, fluidity, lightness, and iridescence. Yai stood out in a black chiffon dress that created an ethereal effect under the lights, complemented by a gold necklace that added a refined touch.
Her poised presence and confident walk highlighted the collection’s themes of movement and understated luxury, aligning with Chanel’s heritage and Blazy’s fresh perspective.

After experiencing severe symptoms, she underwent a lifesaving procedure and surgery. Throughout her recovery, she shared updates on social media, including post-surgery images taken shortly after being named Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards.
Yai’s Instagram posts reflected a sense of quiet triumph. Chanel highlighted her return in a post, while fans shared reels celebrating her comeback. Vogue stated, “@anokyai is back and better than ever. After announcing a break from modeling at the end of last year, Anok Yai just made her first appearance of the season on the fall 2026 @chanelofficial runway.”
Across platforms, the response was one of admiration and celebration. Yai has described her experience as humbling and transformative, emerging with renewed perspective and gratitude.
Since being discovered in 2017 at Howard University, Anok Yai has quickly risen to prominence in the fashion industry. She debuted for Versace in 2018 and has since walked for leading designers such as Prada, Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Bottega Veneta, and Balenciaga. Her portfolio includes campaigns for major brands like Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Valentino, and Victoria’s Secret.
Yai’s achievements include closing major shows, earning Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards, and appearing on the covers of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. She has been a regular presence at Paris Fashion Week, often opening or closing key presentations.
Before her hiatus, she delivered notable performances, including the Spring/Summer 2026 Vetements finale. Her recent Chanel appearance marks a strong return to the runway.
Anok Yai’s return to Chanel represents a significant comeback in the fashion industry. Her resilience and presence continue to inspire, demonstrating strength in the face of adversity. As Paris Fashion Week progresses, Anok Yai’s enduring impact and renewed energy are evident.
