6 Things Sophisticated Brides Want in Their Wedding

Getting married is one of the most memorable times in a person’s life, so it should come as no surprise that brides want everything to be perfect, from the invitations to dress. Although the planning process can become tricky and stressful, you would do well not to let these issues get in your way. When you know what you want on your special day, it’s easier to take the appropriate steps to have the wedding of your dreams.

If you’re planning your nuptials, strive to make decisions that reflect you – intelligent, worthy, and tasteful. Most importantly, don’t be willing to settle for less than what you and your partner have envisioned! Make this meaningful day about the bond you and your betrothed share and how you want to express that to friends and family who are joining in the celebration. Here are some things sophisticated brides include in their weddings that you may also enjoy as part of your special day.

1. A Backup Weather Plan

Weddings are planned pretty far in advance – generally an entire year or longer – which means there is no accurate prediction for what the weather will do. Sometimes it changes from minute to minute, so anticipating the weather a year from now will be a complete guess.

There isn’t much to worry about if you’re having an indoor ceremony. However, if you’re planning an outdoor service or want to get photographs outside, you should have a strategy in place in case the weather doesn’t cooperate. This alternative plan can range from taking the wedding inside to setting up a tent and keeping the festivities outdoors.

Additionally, unless you’re getting married in the middle of summer when the days are always hot, you may want to pack a bridal jacket or wrap to keep you warm while still looking stunning. As long as you’re prepared for any weather condition, you won’t be caught off guard or disappointed!

2. Favorite Accessories

It’s your special day, so you should feel free to accessorize however your heart desires. When looking into wedding accessories for brides, you should try to incorporate things that make your personality stand out. For instance, maybe you need some white shades that match your dress to keep the sun out of your eyes when you’re going from the chapel to the reception hall, or perhaps you want to incorporate something blue by wearing a stylish pair of sapphire earrings.

No matter what you do, you’re sure to look stunning. Nothing illuminates a woman’s face and body more than the pure joy she feels from saying “I do.”

3. Decorations

You don’t need to have the flashiest decorations to make the ceremony and reception area stand out. Sometimes less is more, making even the most minor designs appear elegant. Sticking with your wedding colors or theme (if you have one) can add the perfect touch.

For example, if you’re going to have an outdoor wedding near the woods, incorporate the earthy browns and greens to really bring the area to life. Wooden tables with green wedding labels and soft-colored flowers would add perfectly to the outdoorsy theme. If, instead, you decide to have an indoor beach-themed wedding, you may opt to use seashells for decorations, blue placemats, and tropical greenery.

While some women may not have time to make their own decorations, others may find making crafts for the wedding a soothing and stress-free part of the experience. If you have the chance to create even one DIY item, you should give it a shot! Knowing that you provided a personal touch will add to the already memorable day.

4. Reception Clothing

Your wedding dress is something you’ll only get to wear one time, so you’ll probably want to get the most out of it. However, if you choose a gown you can’t move well in, you may wish to swap it out once the dancing starts. Many women opt for different clothes and shoes to boogie down in when the time is right, so don’t feel obligated to wear your wedding dress all night if you don’t want to.

However, many styles are available if you decide you want to dance the night away in your beautiful wedding gown. You can purchase a knee- or calf-length dress or a flattering jumpsuit instead of the conventional gown, but if you’ve already decided on a dress with a train, consider adding a bustle, as it will keep your dress from dragging on the floor.

5. Bridal Emergency Kit

You never know when you’ll get into a pinch at the last minute and need to sew a button back on or take medicine for a headache. It’s better to be prepared for even the slightest mishap to ensure the day goes smoothly. Your nerves may start to get the best of you, as brides and grooms often become anxious as the clock ticks closer to their nuptials. Don’t let something minor upset you along the way!

Instead, pack an emergency kit that includes everything from chapstick to bobby pins to safety pins. You may even want to add deodorant, as it’s easy to forget the necessities with so much going on.

6. Diversity

Many brides prefer that their bridesmaids wear the same dresses and jewelry so they match. This setup has basically become a tradition. However, other brides are breaking out of their shells and allowing their bridesmaids to wear their own styles as long as the colors match, which is a great way to let everyone express themselves!

Still, others are letting their bridesmaids wear their own style and color! This choice may seem a bit extreme, but it can be toned down by sticking to a particular color scheme, such as blues, pinks, or even rainbow colors.

Before making any final decisions about how diverse you want the bridal party to be, consider what the pictures will look like. Look into color trends to help you figure out whether certain hues will pop or be a flop.

Be Your Own Sophisticated Bride

You don’t have to use all of these ideas to have the wedding of a sophisticated woman. What will set your wedding day apart is adding your own personal touches into the wedding day mix. Discuss your vision with your significant other to develop a day that suits both of your needs. As long as you’re pleased, everyone on the guest list will be equally as happy.
