Anne Hathaway appeared chic and polished in a striking red ensemble at the New York City world premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 on April 20, 2026.

The sequel to the 2006 fashion classic reunited the original cast for a premiere at Lincoln Center, where Hathaway demonstrated her enduring status as a red-carpet icon two decades after her role as Andy Sachs. Her custom Louis Vuitton gown, designed by Nicolas Ghesquière, featured bold red satin that referenced the film’s iconic fashion. The corseted bodice included a sweetheart neckline and sculptural pointed details at the sides, adding a subtle, playful edge.

A voluminous tea-length skirt created a balanced, modern silhouette and revealed matching open-toe heels. She accessorised with Bulgari pink gold jewellery, including a wrap bracelet, dangling earrings, and a red cocktail ring that added understated glamour.

The red carpet appearance served as a full-circle fashion statement. Throughout the Devil Wears Prada 2 press tour, Hathaway has embraced “method dressing,” reflecting her character’s evolution from assistant to confident fashion insider. Her signature bangs, referencing Andy Sachs, have been a consistent element at global premieres.

Anne Hathaway‘s red-carpet style has evolved from early layered looks in the Princess Diaries era to sophisticated couture today. Her choice of vibrant red for this premiere is both intentional and celebratory. Red traditionally symbolises power, passion, and confidence—qualities associated with Miranda Priestly—and Hathaway wore it with poise.

The Louis Vuitton design balanced structure and softness: the fitted corset emphasised her waist, while the tea-length skirt provided movement and a modern approach to formal wear. Paired with Bulgari jewellery, the outfit achieved a balance between high-fashion drama and wearable style. Fans and critics praised it online as one of her strongest looks of the press tour, which has included appearances in Valentino, Balenciaga, and Stella McCartney in cities such as Tokyo, Seoul, Mexico City, and Shanghai.

On the day of the premiere, Hathaway was also named PEOPLE’s World’s Most Beautiful 2026, further highlighting the evening. In a recent cover story, she reflected on the original film: “I loved making the first. I know I was stressed and anxious and all those things, but it’s one of the most hilarious experiences ever because of the people I was with.” She also praised her co-stars, describing Emily Blunt as “a dream,” Stanley Tucci as “so funny and quick,” and Meryl Streep as someone who “defines how it’s done” and “is always pushing herself to expand as an artist.”

The original The Devil Wears Prada (2006) became a cultural phenomenon, turning “cerulean” into a fashion history lesson and making “gird your loins” a catchphrase.

The sequel, set for theatrical release on May 1, 2026, picks up years later as Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) navigates the declining world of traditional magazine publishing. She faces off against a high-powered Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), now an executive at a luxury group whose advertising dollars Miranda desperately needs.
