Women Who Wears Makeup At Workplace Are Less Likely To Be Good Leaders – Study

We are not saying that women who wear makeup to work are dummies or you should go ahead and ditch your concealers but a new study has attributed bad leadership to makeup-wearing women at workplaces as compared to bare-faced colleagues. According to the researchers – Esther James and Shauny Jenkins from the Abertay University in Dundee, male and female participants had to analyzed 16 pairs of makeup and no-makeup images to come up with this findings.

Harpers Bazaar UK explains that the participants were “then asked to assess which one they perceived to be a greater leader. And the result turned out to consider the makeup-wearing women as less proactive when it comes to leadership.

“This research follows previous work in this area, which suggests that wearing make-up enhances how dominant a woman looks,” Dr. Christopher Watkins who led the study said. “While the previous findings suggest that we are inclined to show some deference to a woman with a good looking face, our new research suggests that make-up does not enhance a woman’s dominance by benefiting how we evaluate her in a leadership role.”
