The Met Gala 2018 – 7 Celebrities Who Sartorially Interpreted The Theme Perfectly

The much anticipated 2018 Met Gala held last night and the theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”. This theme was designed to create a dialogue between fashion and the masterworks of religious art in the museum’s holdings. The star-studded show was presented in a trinity (every pun intended) of locations: the Anna Wintour Costume Center, the medieval galleries at the Met’s Fifth Avenue location, and further uptown at the Cloisters.

As with every year, we the onlookers and fashion lovers looked forward to the good, the bad and the downright weird fashion interpretation of the event’s theme by our favorite celebrities. Below are 7 celebrities we feel understood and interpreted the theme perfectly:

Blake Lively in Atelier Versace and Christian Louboutin shoes with a Judith Leiber Couture bag.

A red carpet favorite, we absolutely love how Blake didn’t go too literal with the theme of the event but ended up looking like the theme itself – A Heavenly Body, An Angel!

Sean Combs aka Diddy looks like a new-generation Pastor in the white get-up. Simple and straight with the theme of the event.

Rihanna always brings an interesting take to the met gala. This year, we saw her channeling the realness of a Pope. Just check out the singer for yourself.

4.

Pretty Zendaya looks like a gorgeous knight in Atelier Versace, Tiffany & Co. jewelry, and Jimmy Choo shoes. How cool is this look?

5.

Wakanda Forever!!! Chadwick Boseman was definitely a hit in this outfit. He took the theme quite literally and went ahead to kill it nicely.

6.

Jared Leto actually channeled Jesus Christ and we love that he pulled it off effortlessly. This is a Gucci get-up.

7.

Doesn’t Solange in some way look like an unidentified heavenly body? Weird but beautiful and well put together.
