See The Looks From Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda Show

Dolce & Gabbana presented its latest Alta Moda collection last night at Villa Bardini in Florence and continued to churn out beautiful pieces. It is the first physical runway show and the biggest yet, since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. With a breathtaking collection featuring 89 looks, the Italian fashion label sent its models down a super-long staircase decorated with colorful flowers. Men dressed in suits also stood at ease as the models majestically walked down the tiered stairway in their beautiful dresses, which according to the brand were designed as a tribute to Florence.

“The inspiration came from the Sixteenth century and the Italian Renaissance,” the brand said in a statement. “In this historical period, the tailors – and especially the Florentine artisans – created clothes and accessories with what they had in their workshops (the so called botteghe), mixing different materials through the lens of their great creativity. By using and combining elements and materials such as natural or coloured raffia, corals and hard stones, they gave birth to the concept of Arte Povera (Poor Art).”

As for the collection, D&G seems to stick to the house’s penchant for flowers. Wearable glamour is at the core of every single piece with eye-catching embellishments, embroidery, and 3D floral appliques. That’s the beauty of this collection.
