Tips for Staying Healthy Before Your Wedding Day

As your wedding day approaches, you probably have a thousand things on your mind — and self-care isn’t one of them. From dresses and flowers to invitations and guest lists, it’s safe to say you’re under a tremendous amount of stress. Unfortunately, this stress can wreak havoc on your health and immunity.

Although you want nothing more than to have the most perfect day of your life, you shouldn’t put your health on the back burner; the last thing you want is to get sick before your special day. Consider these tips for staying healthy before your wedding day to ensure you’re completely present to enjoy every moment of the experience.

Take Your Vitamins

Everyone requires different vitamins in their diet, but it’s worth finding out which ones you need more in your daily routine. Many people take fish oil for heart health, others take collagen for hair, skin, and nails, and others take vitamin C to boost their overall immune system. Whatever the case is for you, don’t slack on your vitamin regimen before your wedding day.

Get Some Light Exercise

Exercise is beneficial for everyone, no matter your age. Many brides try very hard to get into shape before their wedding and tend to overexert themselves. While light exercise is necessary and healthy, overexertion is a surefire way to damage your body, alter your hormone levels, and make yourself sore and tired. Consider going for walks around your neighborhood or on the treadmill and doing some light dumbbell work to get your body moving.

Take a Break From Planning

Wedding planning can be incredibly stressful, and stress isn’t good for your health. Although you’re probably focused on the key details to remember for your wedding, you must put your health first. It may seem like a good idea to stay up late building centerpieces or researching bouquet arrangements, but your body needs eight hours of sleep each night to stay happy and healthy.

Make Yourself Some Tea

Drinking tea is an excellent way to relax and fuel your body. If you’re having trouble getting to sleep at night, consider drinking a mug of lavender chamomile tea to soothe your body. There’s nothing worse than feeling a cold or flu come on.

If you do start feeling sick, you should cut yourself some slack and make some lemon tea. Believe it or not, lemon tea can help clear your body of mucus. Because honey has antibacterial properties, you should try adding some to your tea to soothe your throat. If you don’t like tea, there are plenty of ways to use raw honey for cold and flu to minimize your symptoms.

Eat Well and Stay Hydrated

Diet and hydration are everything when it comes to your health. Even if it’s easier to order takeout or go through a drive-thru, you should do your best to incorporate more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and probiotics into your daily diet. Food fuels your body, and eating well is the best way to give it the best fuel. Water is your best friend, and staying hydrated is necessary to prevent illness and maintain clear skin; try drinking between 64 and 128 ounces daily.

With these tips for staying healthy before your wedding day, you should be able to dodge unwanted illnesses leading up to your big day. Not feeling your best for your wedding is the worst, but incorporating self-care into your daily routine can help maintain your physical and mental health.
