Three days after his demise, Karl Largerfeld’s final collection for Fendi was presented yesterday at the on-going Milan Fashion Week Fall 2019. Before his death, the designer has worked with the brand for more than 50 years and was honored by the fashion house, which paid a heartfelt tribute that left showgoers in teary eyes.

“The Fendi women’s autumn/winter 2019 collection is the final collection designed by Karl Lagerfeld, representing a lifetime of dedication and creation from 1965 until today,” the show notes, according to reports. “In his perpetual search for beauty and innovation, Karl’s commitment to his craft never waned.”

The fashion house, in a press release also added that Lagerfeld’s bond with Fendi will continue to remain in its history book. “The bond between Karl Lagerfeld and Fendi is fashion’s longest love story, one that will continue to touch our lives for years to come,” said creative partner Silvia Venturini Fendi in a press release.

According to a report, the most touching parts of the tribute was a video played about the German designer where he was asked to draw himself on his first day at Fendi. Giving a sketch of himself, the video captioned: “A heartfelt tribute to Karl Lagerfeld, Fendi’s Ready to wear and Couture designer for over five decades. Karl, you will be dearly missed.”

His final collection offers minimal yet beautiful designs, characterized by updated shapes, which were demonstrated by big names like Gigi and Bella Hadid, Adwoa Aboah Kaia Gerber, and Adut Akech.
