Model Adut Akech Is Already Starting The New Year With Vogue Australia Cover

It may be the end of the year but Adut Akech has already transported herself to the new year.

The South Sudanese-Australian model appears on the January 2022 cover of Vogue Australia magazine posing in a yellow top with multicolored feathered sleeves. She teamed the dramatic look with a pair of white pants and a beaming smile.

Having moved to Australia with her family at the age of seven after her mother fled the civil war in South Sudan to raise her in a refugee camp in Kenya, the latest Vogue Australia cover is surely a special one for the model. It comes from the place where she started her modeling career and as per the model, her mother will get to see the cover at the grocery stores and newsstands.

Couldn’t think of a better way to end 2021 and start the New Year with the first @vogueaustralia cover for January 2022 shot by @charliedenno 😍😍😍 living my best life all 2020 😩,” she wrote on Instagram. “Getting an Australian Vogue cover is always extra extra special to me because back home is where it all started. And my mum and family get to see it at the grocery stores and news stands. That’s very special 🥺.”

As her fifth cover with Vogue Australia, the magazine invited Adut’s fans and friends including Julia Gillard, Amanda Gorman, Troye Sivan, and Helena Christensen to ask their burning questions to the model. She also threw her opinion over the lockdown, tattoos, grief, and work ethic.
