7 Things You Shouldn’t Wear To Work As An Intern

Working as an intern means a lot for many people because, as a matter of fact it is a stepping stone to getting a real job, as well as building a successful career. That means a lot of efforts have to be put in place, including attitude towards work and how you dress. This is the right time to begin to see yourself as a professional, and of course the way you dress can determine how responsible you are to handling a bigger task. So, is either you dress to impress or dress to ruin. Its your choice!

#1 Mini Skirts

Even if you are a die hard fan of a mini skirt, your workplace is not a runway – Don’t Wear It. You should know if your skirt is too short for office environment if you bend and you have to hold your skirt against your butt to avoid revealing your undergarment. Invest on pencil skirts that the hemlines are below the knee, or better still wear pant trousers.

#2 Sheer Tops

Sheer tops itself is an attention-grabber, which means wearing it to your office can be considered as inappropraite. Because see-through pieces are designed to show a lot of skin; and even though you decide not to show any skin by wearing a bodysuit, a tight tank top, or t-shirt underneath it, a little distraction from it can cause a lot in your office. 

#3 Don’t Wear Tops That Can Expose Your Bra Straps

Tops that exposes a bra strap is very inappropraite in an office enironment. Because you’ve been wearing it to your lecture hall does not mean is suitable for an office. Working environment is entirely for business and professionals and you should see yourself as one. Check yourself in a mirror and if your bra straps are showing from the back, layer the top under a clean jacket.

#4 Makeup

 

Office makeup should be minimal, natural, and polished. Never go overboard with your makeup if you want people to rate you as a professional or if you don’t want to cause distractions. Just keep it subtle and save the heavy stuff for the weekend.

#5 Spaghetti Strap Tops and Strapless Tops

 

Even without being told, pieces like this are completely inappropriate for office environment. It can only tell people a little or more about you. Stick to dresses with sleeves and tops that have considerate necklines.

6# Avoid High Heels

If you cannot run with your heels, there is absolutely no point wearing them as an intern to your office. Because it will come a time where you’d be expecting to run. To be on the save side, wear shoes that are very comfy for you, maybe flats, or maybe not. But ensure you wear a shoe that if your Boss wants you to run, you run, and when the time comes, you walk.

#7 Tuck in Your Shirts

If your superiors usually tucked in their shirts, then who are you to fly yours? Think about this!
