As you’re likely aware, nipples have become a prominent feature on red carpets, runways, and streets in recent years. Celebrities like Florence Pugh and Kendall Jenner have consistently embraced the “free the nipple” movement, using their stylish outfits to shed light on the importance of bodily autonomy.
During the most recent fashion runway shows, particularly at Paris Fall 2024 Fashion Week, this trend was more prevalent than ever. Designers, models, and celebrities alike embraced the concept, with brands such as Vaquera, Chloé, and Saint Laurent showcasing entirely sheer ensembles (or naked dresses) during their Fall 2024 runways.
That said, Anthony Vaccarello’s Saint Laurent Fall 2024 runway show stood out for its bold embrace of nipple liberation. A staggering 75% of the collection featured looks that bared the nipple, with 36 out of 48 outfits crafted from transparent fabrics. Despite the daring nature of his designs, they still maintained Saint Laurent’s signature sophistication, featuring braless models adorned in pussy-bow blouses, turtlenecks, and pantsuits.
Chloé’s Fall 2024 runway echoed Saint Laurent’s in terms of embracing nipple visibility. The show featured numerous frilly chiffon outfits and delicate lace designs, with the majority opting for no undergarments.
Vaquera took things a step further with a collection that pushed boundaries even more than the 75% nudity seen at the Saint Laurent Fall 2024 Fashion Show. One standout piece was a turtleneck with strategically placed nipple cutouts, paired with a traditional two-piece suit. While undeniably bold, this choice aligns with Vaquera’s history of provocative designs, including trousers adorned with a bright red thong.
While some designers took extreme approaches to the nipple-forward trend, others incorporated it more subtly. The CFCL Fall 2024 runway show elevated sheer pieces with shimmering accents. CFCL’s collection included winter staples like coats and sweater dresses alongside sheer evening gowns made of shimmery chiffon.
Pressiat took the concept of clothing-free fashion to the extreme by sending a barefoot model down the runway wearing only an oversized headdress and black body paint from her décolletage to her crotch.
Even Courrèges got in on the nipple-forward trend with diaphanous dresses adorned with avant-garde embellishments. Delicate fringe adorned the gowns, resembling strands of hair.
Certainly, the runways weren’t the sole platforms showcasing luxurious, see-through outfits. Street-style icons and front-row attendees adeptly embraced the fashion zeitgeist, presenting their finest and most daring looks.
Noah Cyrus boldly embraced the free-nipple trend at Paris Fall 2024 Fashion Week, opting to go braless in a lacy, see-through ensemble while seated in the front row with her fiancé Pinkus at Vetements’ womenswear Fall 2024 runway show.
Other notable figures such as Olivia Wilde, Georgia May Jagger, Zoe Kravitz, and Elsa Hosk also joined the league of bold fashion choices, forgoing bras and nipple covers for maximum exposure at the Saint Laurent Fall 2024 show.
To label the Paris Fall 2024 Fashion Week as the most nipple-centric in history would be an understatement.
