Hanifa Actually Used 3D Models To Showcase Its Latest Collection

Coronavirus pandemic has reshaped the way we do things and the side effect is heavily on the fashion industry. While the fashion council is still deliberating on the next steps to stage the upcoming fashion shows, womenswear label, Hanifa, has already set the record, proving that fashion can still be accessible, using 3D models to showcase its first collection.

In what could be Hanifa’s first fashion show, the brand took to Instagram live on Friday evening to amaze fans with an unforgettable digital experience of its Pink Label Congo collection which was paraded by 3D models. The collection features beautiful pieces from edgy pleated top and skirt to clingy dresses and jumpsuit with ruched and ruffled detailing.

According to the designer, Anifa Mvuemba, the idea of using 3D models born out of innovation for her brand. “We create for women without limitations, I found that the 3D world gave me a place to innovate,” Mvuemba told ESSENCE. “It’s important to believe in yourself, love what you do, and let the passion inspire you.”

She also made known that as an African woman who experienced insecurity while growing up, her collection was fuelled by passion, referencing Congo as her inspiration. “Growing up I always felt like an outcast,” she continued. “I always felt like I wanted to be “in” or be apart of something and I find that I actually have a voice in Hanifa. That’s what fueled the passion. This is the right time to do a collection inspired by Congo. I’ve heard so many stories about the coltan and the mining issues. I wanted this collection to support the families that were affected and the organizations that are doing the groundwork.”

Anifa’s move is considered very innovative, especially in a time where staying at home and social distancing is mandatory. So far, the unthinkable fashion show has gone digitally viral with many praising the creative work of a black woman.
