TORLOWEI
TORLOWEI is the creator of the first-ever piece of couture to be accepted into the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institute of the National Museum of African art. The creative director Patience Torlowei of the Nigerian fashion brand uses her work as poetic and prose-like representations of the experiences of Africa as a continent. She would often create her pieces using the most original, richest, and unique combination of textiles and accessories possible. Her favorites include hand-dyed batiks from Nigeria and silk dupioni from India.
