What To Wear For A City Break

We love a good vacation as much as the next girl, but sometimes you just don’t have the time to jet off to far-away lands for weeks on end. Luckily, you can always count on a city break to fend off that travel bug and give you the adventure you need for a short while.

You might spend the weekend trailing the streets of Dubrovnik, or you might soak up the romance in Paris. The cities of the world really are your oysters. Either way, you need to know how to pack lightly and to pack appropriately for a city break. After all, you only have a small amount of time to make a fashionable impression…

Layers upon layers

Knowing what to wear for your city break doesn’t have to be difficult, as long as you remember that it’s all about the layers. While style is always our number one priority, it’s also important to ensure that you are appropriately dressed for the city that you are exploring. You don’t want to be wearing a huge sweater while wandering around in the blazing sun, but equally, you don’t want to be wearing your favorite summer dress in the snow.

Instead, layers will always have your back. You can wear that cute summer dress, but take a sweater, a jacket, and even some thick tights in your suitcase so you can keep as warm as possible – still with the option to take the layers off if you want to.

Dress for the occasion

One of the main reasons we love traveling so much is because you never know where you’re going to end up. Most of the time, you have no plans, and you simply wander where the wind takes you.

Although this can be pretty exciting, it can also play havoc with your outfit options. Because of this, you need to ensure that you dress for the occasion when you go on your city break. Choose an outfit that can easily transition from day to evening, so that you can seamlessly make your way from the cobbled streets to the funky bars that light up the city when the sun sets. This way, you can maintain style and substance 24/7.

Stylish but comfortable shoes

City breaks are short and sweet, which means you often try and pack in as many activities as possible into that short amount of time. It’s therefore important that you wear stylish but comfortable shoes – because you should never hold back on your style.

The last thing you want is to injure yourself during this city break, even if you do have insurance, so you need to make sure that you can walk for miles on end in these shoes. They must be comfortable, and they mustn’t leave you with horrible sores that force you to retreat to your hotel room.

Make use of your accessories

When you go on vacation, it can be easy to leave your accessories behind, because it’s all about the outfits, right? Well, not quite. Not only do you accessories make your outfit pop, but they also add a sense of practicality to the mix.

Don your favorite purse to hold your guidebooks, your camera, and the adorable little trinkets you pick up at the market. Wear your coolest sunglasses to show the world that you are totally ready for city life. Pack your most stylish hat to keep the sun off your head while also proving that you are as cosmopolitan as they come. It really is two for the price of one.

Choosing what to wear for a city break should now be easy, you just need to follow our guide! Have you got any more tips for those struggling to pack their suitcase? Let us know in the comments.
