Lupita Nyong’o Is Changing Her Red Carpet Style And One Accessory Is Responsible

Gone are those days when we used to see Lupita Nyong’o’s hair on the red carpet. Seriously, it’s like the days of showing off her inventive hairstyles are over, following her recent penchant for headwraps. Lupita Nyong’o is known for all kinds of short hairstyles and between her first red carpet hit to recently, she has sported countless of them all — from switched-up parts, powdered widow’s peak, Afro puffs to twisted pompadour, just to name a few.

As a matter of fact, we’ve been keeping a close watch on the actress — not for anything but sartorial pursuit. That means every little steps she makes, our ears are wide opened. When the Kenyan beauty stepped out few days ago for the premiere of ‘Queen of Katwe’ at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival, donning a gorgeous blue and yellow dress and teamed with a matching African-inspired headwrap that had us drooling, she only gave a clue of her new red carpet style. 

For the Los Angeles premiere of ‘Queen of Katwe’ that took place yesterday, the 33-year-old Oscar award winner proved once again her love for headwraps. She wore a beautiful lilac plunging gown, which featured a modest slit, a striped multi-colored waist-belt and a criss cross strap at the back of the same color. The wow-factor? Lupita accessorized with a lilac headwrap and drop earrings of the same hue, and completed with a pair of black ankle strap heels as well a swipe of red lips.

They’re more than enough to love about headwraps. They can instantly update any outfit as you can see on Lupita, and  more and more black women are beginning to infuse the accessory into their personal style. All thanks to the actress for this reminder!
