Juliet Ibrahim Just Made Her Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet Debut in a Corseted Dress and Blonde Braids
The Cannes Film Festival is currently in full swing, reviewing the latest films from around the world, spanning various genres, including documentaries. This prestigious event is renowned for its signature upscale glamour on the red carpet, comparable to the high fashion spectacles of the Oscars and the Met Gala. Unlike other film festivals like Venice or TIFF, Cannes is known for its distinctly formal atmosphere, setting a high standard for red-carpet fashion.
Cannes has a rich history of delivering unforgettable fashion moments. Iconic looks include Diana, Princess of Wales’s Catherine Walker gown in 1987, Amal Clooney’s Atelier Versace gown in 2016, and Viola Davis‘s feathered Valentino Dress in 2023.
This year, the festival promises to showcase the most dramatic and luxurious outfits—custom-made, fresh off the runway, or rare vintage finds. Already, we’ve had the pleasure of witnessing some breathtaking looks, such as French singer Yseult stunning everyone in a Dior outfit paired with a stylishly tilted straw hat and elegant ruched gloves.
African celebrities are increasingly making their presence felt at the festival, and one standout attendee is Ghanaian actress and producer Juliet Ibrahim. She made a memorable debut on the Cannes red carpet last night, May 19th, 2024.
The movie star captivated everyone in a stunning floor-length gown by Thelma Tay. Her dress, in a striking blue hue, featured a corseted bodice and a daring high slit up to her thighs. The gown elegantly blended light blue Kente fabric with a darker velvety blue material, creating a sophisticated look that stood out with its minimal embellishments.

For her beauty look, the filmmaker made a significant statement with blonde goddess braids styled half up, half down, forming a front bun with curly side bangs. She added a brooch atop the bun to complete her hairstyle.
Juliet Ibrahim shared a video of her stunning debut at Cannes 2024 on Instagram, quickly capturing the attention of fashion enthusiasts who filled the comment section with compliments on her blue ensemble.
In her post on her official Instagram account, the actress wrote, “When you dream, dream big… as big as the ocean. My outfit as I stepped out at #cannesfilmfestival.”
The 2024 edition of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, currently underway in Cannes, France, will end on May 25, 2024. We eagerly anticipate seeing more spectacular looks from stars like Juliet Ibrahim.
