Bonang Matheba Wore 5 Dresses to Host the Miss South Africa 2024: Every Detail There Is
There are beauty pageants, and then there’s the host of the Miss South Africa 2024 beauty pageant.
On Saturday (August 10, 2024), all eyes were on the beautiful contenders at the 2024 Miss South Africa beauty pageant, and as the host of the night, Bonang Matheba couldn’t possibly shine through in just one dress. Of course, she made several outfit changes.
The SA media personality who’s known for her charming stage presence shut down the ceremony in showstopping dresses and never looked back.
To kick off the night, Matheba hit the SunBet Arena, a multipurpose entertainment hub in Pretoria where the event took place, wearing a custom Veekee James gown with intricated embellishments and pleats. The 37-year-old teamed the shimmering sculptured masterpiece with complementary jewelry — that came complete with matching dangling earrings, a regal layered necklace, and a crown. She wore her hair in a chic updo, plus a stunning makeup look.
A few minutes later as the audiences were gradually taken into the most exciting part of the show, Matheba quickly changed into another look — this one she draped herself head-to-toe in gold. For the second time, the South African star favored another Nigerian label, SOMO, in a look the designer described as “Roman Goddess.” This beautiful gown featured a gorgeous headpiece, draped shoulders, and lavish fringe.
Of course, Bonang Matheba isn’t a stranger when it comes to hosting the Miss South Africa beauty pageant. Having hosted the show in 2023, she returned to the stage with a bang in 2024 and the best way to do it? Opting for her favorite Nigerian designers throughout the event.
While the night was indeed for the beauty pageants, Bonang Matheba, once again, rocked the stage with confidence in her third number — this time by SHEYEOLADEJO. Styled by Dahmola, who’s also the stylist behind other looks, she opted for a floral and ruffled strapless confection with dramatic earrings.
Matheba continued to switch things up, wearing what looked like a feathered, silver metallic dress when the show was even getting hotter with the contestants. She completed the look with matching earrings.
For the fifth look of the night, Bonang Matheba didn’t slow down but instead, saved the best for the last, in a custom Emagine By Bukola gown. As the designer pointed out, this masterpiece was “inspired by the whispers of the wind and the elegance of butterflies.” She added a pair of dazzling rounded earrings, offset with dark brown eyeshadow and lips.
Mia le Roux of Western Cape was, however, crowned the winner of Miss South Africa 2024 by her predecessor Natasha Joubert. She will represent South Africa at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico on 16 November 2024.
Our congratulations are in order!
