Anyone who’s been keeping up with Lupita Nyong’o knows that she loves exploring different cultures. Just last January, she was Benin, Morocco, and Ghana where she made sure her presence was felt sartorially and culturally. And since last week, the Hollywood actress has been living her best life in Lagos, Nigeria, courtesy of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
Thankfully, she has been keeping fans in the loop by sharing photos of her fun-filled adventure visiting places, partying, and rubbing shoulders with some Nigerian entertainment A-listers—all of which she donned beautiful ensembles.
As if this isn’t enough, last Sunday marked her 37th birthday and Nyong’o decided to have the fête abroad in a place considered warm. While the temps over in New York is freezing cool, where else is better than a place you could dance in the heat in a little dress? From the video and images shared by the actress, she was captured wearing little prints dress while dancing in front of the beaming guests, who were there to celebrate her new age. There was a birthday cake in sight, cocktails, candles, a DJ mixing beats, and it looked like it was lit.
“It’s my birthday and I will party if I want to! #NaijaLife,” the actress captioned the post.
Besides the Birthday celebration, there was another big event for the actress that took place just a few hours after — the celebration life of Engr. Olusegun Akann Doherty.
Making an entrance at the event was Lupita Nyong’o who breezed in wearing a custom Nigerian native attire. The ensemble was this stunning and vibrant top and skirt crafted from wax prints that created a figure-flattering silhouette. The blouse shows a bit of cleavage and featured subtle bell sleeves. Nyong’o completed the look with a blue shoulder bag and a matching head-tie (a.k.a Gele) that throws a glance at her bedazzled braided bangs.
“Funmbi said, ‘Make her look like a Lagos slay queen.’ Tolu obliged,” the actress captioned the picture. “Grateful to have been a part of the celebration of Engr. Olusegun Akann Doherty’s well-loved life.”
Obviously, the actress had an amazing experience in Nigeria and here’s sending Best Wishes for her new age.
