The 2020 ESPY Awards was not like the usual annual event. There were no red carpet arrivals and compared to the past years where a flock of celebrities in their beautiful dresses would cluster inside the auditorium, it was rather a virtual event due to the coronavirus pandemic. In this case, Ciara and husband, Russell Wilson who was also the host was not feeling the vibes, and to make it a bit traditional, the couple had to set up their own red carpet in the backyard.
The singer took to Instagram last night to share how they’re showing up on the faux red carpet, goofing around with a selfie stick. “Lil fun on the Red Carpet The #Espys,” Ciara captioned the hilarious video where they both rocked bathrobes and sunglasses. “Tonight’s going to be a GOOD one. Bae Hosting #FathersDay 💃🏽.”
Speaking in the clip, Russell said, “Bae, guess where we are? We at the ESPYS red carpet.” “Quarantine-style, ESPYs 2020,” Ciara added while caressing her baby bump. She also wrapped her head with a matching towel, giving off some bathroom style on the red carpet.

Wilson, a football quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks explained in another clip posted on his account that he’s been coming to the annual ESPY Awards in the last 7-years and the red carpet show has always been one of his favorite parts of the show but why should this year be any different? Hence, the reason he built one in his own backyard. Everything from the photographers to the reporters were literally in place. “We really thought we were on the ESPYS red carpet,” added.
Genius!
