She just turned 32 last February and Rihanna already has a mapped out plan about parenting and family life. The singer and fashion maven is the cover star of British Vogue May Issue and she spoke candidly about her upcoming music album, Fenty Beauty, and life in general.

Shot by Steven Klein, RiRi is poised in the cover spread, putting her style prowess on display in fantastic creations that can only be considered elegantly on point. According to the pop star, her new age has taught her about life in a different way.

“Since I turned 32, I’m realizing life is really short,” she told the magazine. “You don’t have a lot of time to tolerate shit, you know? You put so much on your plate. When you’re overwhelmed, you need to start cutting things out. And I’m overwhelmed too much,” she continued. “What’s happening now is that I’m going back to black and white. My grey area is shutting down.”

Although she’s now single, having recently quit her relationship with her Saudi boyfriend Hassan Jameel, Rihanna is still positive about the future, and of course, where she would be in the next 10 years, perhaps becoming a mother with 3 or 4 kids. “Ten years? I’ll be 42! I’ll be ancient. I’ll have kids—three or four of ’em,” she said when asked about her plans in the next 10 years.

She also spoke about her groundbreaking Fenty Beauty which defied the industry standard with a diversified collection of beauty products. “I’m shocked by people saying, ‘Oh my god, what made you think of making make-up for black girls?’” Rihanna said. “I’m like, ‘What? You thought this was like, a marketing strategy? Like I’m a genius?’ It’s shocking most of the time,” she continued. “Then it turns into disappointment that this is groundbreaking right now. In my mind, this was just normal.”

As for those fans who are eagerly waiting for RiRi to drop a new album, it’s better to note that time isn’t on her side. She runs a multi-million dollar fashion and beauty business too but she has promised that she’s working on something.

“I can’t say when I’m going to drop, but I am very aggressively working on music,” the singer explained. “I don’t want my albums to feel like themes. There are no rules. There’s no format. There’s just good music, and if I feel it, I’m putting it out.”
