Bella Hadid Has Been Dealing With Depressing Mental Health Issues

Bella Hadid is one of the biggest supermodels of the moment but that doesn’t mean she’s nonhuman. The 25-year-old model has been struggling with mental health up to the point that she wasn’t able to ‘post nice pictures on social media.’ In an interview with WSJ. Magazine, Hadid opened up about her struggles and how she’s been able to cope while carrying out her daily activities.

As per the model, mental health can be very unstable as she may feel better today and the opposite the next day. “I do have good days,” Hadid explained. “Today is a good day. My brain fog is feeling better, I don’t feel depressed. I don’t have as much anxiety as I usually do. But tomorrow I could wake up and [be] the complete opposite. That’s why I get so overwhelmed.”

But however, the model is more concerned with maintaining a state of gratitude, and this, she achieves by swamping in a morning routine — for example, reading her favorite book: ‘The Artist’s Way,’ which encourages her to have a dedicated time to herself every morning.

“Every morning, [I write] three pages, journaling,” she added. “What’s important for me is to have that ritual and have that moment to myself. … I try to do a gratitude meditation every morning. If it’s on my way to work, I usually put it on in the car, on the loudspeaker, so whoever’s driving me and I have a nice moment of gratitude together.”

She also spoke about her personal style, revealing how much mental health affected her dressing. “I haven’t had a stylist in a long time, maybe two years now. I was in such a weird place mentally that it was really complicated for me to get out of the house and put an outfit together, especially with the anxiety of [paparazzi] being outside and all that,” she said, adding that she later learned how to ignore people’s opinion over what she’s wearing because she all she cares about are happiness and comfort.
“In the last year, it was really important for me to learn that even if people talk about my style or if they like it or if they don’t, it doesn’t matter, because it’s my style,” she explained. “When I leave the house in the morning, what I think about is: Does this make me happy? Do I feel good in this and do I feel comfortable?”
Hadid revelation comes ten weeks after she couldn’t help anymore but took to Instagram to share photos of herself crying due to mental health. In the lengthy post, the model advised fans to be conscious of social media as the platforms are not real. “Social media is not real. For anyone struggling, please remember that,” she wrote in the tearful post.
