Just like any other fashion house, Printex latest collection entitle ‘the Lupita dream collection’ drew their inspiration from Lupita’ Nyong’o’s fashion style. According to Printex, no other African woman has captivated hearts and minds like this Kenyan beauty. Read below…

The latest Printex collection is a celebration of Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong’o. We have re-imagined some of Lupita’s best red carpet looks and transformed them with colorful African textiles designed, printed, and manufactured in Ghana. Creating a collection inspired by Lupita was inevitable. No other African woman has captivated hearts and minds like this Kenyan beauty.

First she blew us away on the red carpet, then she gave the acceptance speech of the year at the 2014 Academy Awards when she won for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Patsy in 12 Years A Slave. Her speech was an affirmation to women and young people across the world but most especially to those of us on the African continent dreaming for often overwhelming and seemingly impossible things. Lupita is the first African actress to win the award, the first Kenyan to win an Oscar, and the fifteenth person to ever win an Academy Award in a debut performance. In a nutshell, Lupita has gone where no African women before her has, she has made history.

Lupita Nyong’o is an inspiration to us both off and on the red carpet. Like the rest of the world we follow her in anticipation of her next film projects and her effortlessly graceful style. That Lupita, like many other African girls grew up questioning her radiance and beauty because of the color of her skin is a shame. However, we believe that the fashion world’s acknowledgement of her undeniable beauty as she fronts campaigns for Lancome and covers Magazines like Elle, Vogue, and Lucky will continue to reaffirm African girls and women at home in the diaspora.

Printex will continue to showcase and support African women of all shades and hues. Our continued partnership with up and coming local designers is our testament to dream building on the continent. For each of our collections we select West African models, and designers and we give them a platform to share their fashion creations. Beyond our print and billboard advertising campaigns we recently launched #PrintexStyleMe a 10 part TV mini series that brings fashionistas and designers together in a fashion makeover challenge. The show broadcasts on GTV and airs on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

We hope that our latest collection, #LupitaDreamCollection will serve as a reminder of Lupita’s poignant words of hope from her Oscar acceptance speech, “every little child no matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid.”
