Tacha Wants to Break the Record for the ‘Most Makeovers’ Done in a Day

When it comes to Nigerian entertainment, no name is more synonymous with resilience and strategic reinvention than Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha. Since her unforgettable run on Big Brother Naija: Pepper Dem Season, the media personality has consistently traded digital fame for tangible business success, securing global endorsements and building a powerful brand. 

What started as viral fame back in 2016 has evolved into a full-fledged empire, and her latest move, the Tacha GWR Makeover attempt, proves that she’s not slowing down anytime soon. 

Earlier in October, the Nigerian social media influencer set her sights on breaking the Guinness World Record for the ‘Most Makeovers’ done in a day. This bold goal formed the centrepiece of her three-day Tacha Beauty Festival, held from October 10th to 12th, 2025. She described the festival as a celebration of “beauty, culture, and resilience,” and true to her words, it turned into a landmark moment for the Nigerian beauty. 

Originally, the plan was to host the event in London, backed by cosmetics brand NYX, but Tacha made a deliberate decision to bring it home to Nigeria.

“London is not that country that will give me the vibe I want,” she explained during a press briefing announcing the beauty festival. “My people are here. It always makes sense to carry your country along. I’m putting the Nigerian beauty industry on a freaking global map.”

By Sunday, October 12th, that vision came to life. Within just 12 hours, she had completed 115 makeovers, surpassing the previous record of 113 makeovers done within 24 hours, and by 8:30 p.m., the number had climbed to an astonishing 145, transforming both male and female models with stunning speed and precision of artistry.

To manage such a massive volume of flawless work, Tacha relied on an efficient, high-impact six-step technique that balanced creativity with efficiency. She began by prepping with a lightweight primer for an instantly smooth, cakey-free base; skipping foundation overload by applying and blending only where necessary; and using concealer strategically under the eyes and the corners for an instant facelift effect.

She quickly added dimension using a cream blush and bronze combo by dabbing the blush high and sweeping bronzer underneath, before dedicating only 60 seconds to the eyes with a single shimmer tone and a coat of mascara. The reality TV star sealed her makeovers with a simple lip line and gloss, ensuring a high-quality finish while moving at a record-breaking pace.

Each transformation was showcased live on the runway as part of the festival, featuring diverse Nigerian models, including Mitchy, Venita Akpofure, and content duo Wanni and Handi. It was artistry, representation, and precision in full play.

The Tacha GWR Makeover event drew a star-studded audience, from Toke Makinwa, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Dabota Lawson, and reality TV star, Alex Asogwa, to music stars like Ice Prince and Slimcase, and Media personality, Egungun of Lagos. Also in attendance was Idris Aregbe, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, underscoring the cultural impact of Tacha’s achievement.

Now awaiting official confirmation from Guinness World Records, Tacha’s attempt represents more than a personal milestone; she has successfully positioned herself and the Nigerian beauty industry on the global map. Her journey proves that for a true queen of resilience, the only way is up.
