As the wedding industry continues to evolve, so do the trends that shape it. From fashion to décor, couples are always looking for the latest and most unique ideas to make their special day unforgettable. If you’re planning a wedding in 2024 or simply curious about what’s on the horizon, you’re in the right place.
Pinterest remains an indispensable resource for couples preparing to tie the knot, offering a vast repository of wedding planning inspiration. From seeking creative invitation designs to envisioning intricate place settings, prospective newlyweds frequently turn to this online mood board for innovative ideas that aid in shaping their envisioned celebration.
As couples routinely leverage Pinterest to meticulously plan forthcoming events, the platform has a keen insight into emerging wedding trends for 2024 that are likely to capture the limelight.
As an integral part of its yearly comprehensive trends report, Pinterest Predicts dives deep into months of analyzing and assessing users’ common searches. Following this analysis, the team discerns prevalent patterns within the data.
According to Sydney Stanback, Pinterest’s Global Trends and Insights Lead, around 80 percent of the trends predicted by the online image-sharing platform over the past four years have indeed materialized. For instance, Pinterest accurately forecasted the popularity of terracotta and rust color palettes in 2023, aligning correctly with the trends witnessed during that year.
The platform has pinpointed a dominating trend poised to rule the wedding scene in 2024: a resurgence of groovy nuptials. In their trend report, the social media platform envisages a return to ’70s-inspired aesthetics in weddings and pre-wedding festivities for the upcoming year, aligning with the significant shift in wedding styles post-COVID.
Stanback highlights that event planners are infusing these celebratory occasions with decorations and designs reminiscent of the disco-loving era.
“Drawing from Pinterest users’ engagement, we’re witnessing various ways this trend is shaping wedding arrangements. This includes crafting invitations with ’70s vibes, encouraging guests to adopt a ’70s-themed dress code, choosing vibrant and bold color palettes, integrating a ’70s-inspired playlist or live band, and even incorporating the iconic disco ball into the décor,” Stanback elaborates.
The online platform observed a remarkable 170-percent surge in searches for the keyword “groovy wedding.” Additionally, they noted a 50-percent increase in searches related to “70s bride” and an 80-percent boost for “retro wedding theme.” These search results indicate a growing interest in ’70s-themed aesthetics extending to bachelorette parties.
The data also revealed a 110-percent rise in searches for “groovy bachelorette party outfit” and a 35-percent increase for “retro bachelorette party decor.” This surge in interest aligns with the rising popularity of wedding dresses like the BHLDN Belize Embroidered A-Line Long-Sleeve V-Neck Gown, complete with flouncy and fluttery sleeves.
Pinterest foresaw more trends gaining traction in 2024, largely rooted in nostalgic themes. While these trends aren’t exclusively tailored to weddings, there’s a high likelihood they’ll make appearances at couples’ upcoming nuptials.
One notable trend reflects the resurgence of ’60s-inspired blue tones in makeup, such as eyeshadow and nail art, as Gen Z and millennials find innovative ways to integrate this classic color into their looks. Another anticipated trend steeped in nostalgia revolves around jazz-inspired attire, music, and the allure of dimly lit venues.
As love stories unfold, these forecasts promise an era of unique and memorable weddings where creativity intertwines seamlessly with tradition, shaping the landscape of nuptial ceremonies in 2024 and beyond.
