5 Wedding Catering Serving Styles You Need To Know

Throughout the year, an average person attends 2-3 weddings. In addition to the mind-blowing décor and lovely arrangements, there is one more thing that we look forward to while going to a wedding i.e. food. The delicious and lip-smacking taste of the dishes served at weddings remains on our tongues even after the ceremony is over. But what exactly makes the food more delicious is their catering style—the way the food is displayed, the way it is being served to the guests, the ease of service provided to the guests, etc. Since there are many wedding catering styles across the world, it is undeniable that choosing the right style can be difficult.

The following are the various kinds of wedding catering styles that can be implemented in any wedding ceremony easily:

1. Served Plated

Mostly opted by people who are looking for a traditional feel, this catering style involves all the dishes placed and decorated on a single plate for guests. The guests only need to pick the plate and relish the meal. It saves the efforts of the guests as everything is served on one plate. But it sometimes may not be appreciated by a few people, because every person has their own set of likes and dislikes. Therefore, in this method, a fraction of food gets wasted which is not desirable. Also, this method is expensive.

2. Buffet

As one of the most popular adopted by caterers across the globe, wedding guests are allowed to select and serve themselves the choice of their food. It requires less space as you just need a big table to place all the dishes and plates. According to the likes of a guest, he or she is to choose the appropriate dish and the desired quantity.

Unlike, served plated wedding catering styles, it does not require many people for maintaining plates for each guest. It also prevents the wastage of food as people can choose only the dish which they like to eat. However, in the case of large weddings, it becomes difficult for guests to get served as the number of guests is huge and counters are few. This leads to the formation of queues which is a tiresome process for guests.

3. Food Stations

As the name suggests, this wedding catering style has different stations of food in categorized order. This is one of the most famous catering styles opted for, nowadays. Unlike the buffet, it doesn’t have food arranged on one table. It prevents the formation of long queues and it enables the guests to enjoy all the events of the wedding instead of standing in queues waiting for the food. It requires a large space to arrange the food stations for each category. The more the number of stations, the more the number of chefs required to serve food at each food station.

4. Homely Style

If you are looking to provide some home-like vibes to your guests then this is the catering style that will help in doing so. It involves various chairs and table arrangements. Waiters from several counters bring and serve food to the guests sitting at the tables and thus create a home-like feeling. In this case, guests do not need to move to every counter to look for their dishes.

5. Cocktail Special

If your guests are more into drinking, then this is the best wedding catering option. The food is served in small portions along with liquor. Guests are served by the waiters at the place where they are sitting. It is one of the most expensive catering styles as it requires liquor in large proportion whereas the food cost is saved as a meal is provided in small proportions.

So, if you are planning to have a wedding soon, those are a few wedding catering styles to choose from. Depending on the demographics of your guests, you can select a suitable catering style.
