As Gianni Versace said, “Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live.” Like a lot of women out there, the first thought that comes to the mind after saying ‘yes’ to that engagement ring is the day you’d glide through the aisle in the most glamorous white wedding gown. But for the South African couple, Nosipho Miya Leiva and Demetrius Sonny Leiva, the traditional wedding gown wasn’t on their list.
The couple whose wedding pictures are currently making rounds on the internet broke a longtime wedding fashion rule by expressing their penchants for African prints. The bride chose a gorgeous garden-inspired wedding look, bundling up in a chic, greenery embellished Ankara shoulder-baring top and a white midi tulle skirt, complete with a matching headtie and shoes. The look was both fashion-forward and bridal with plenty of glamors.
But the bride wasn’t the only one who was decked in African prints — her husband’s dapper look was also adorned with Ankara waistband, bow tie, and pocket square. Even the bridesmaid and groom’s men were not left out. Keep clicking to see the looks yourself and be inspired:
