How To Be Comfortable on Your Wedding Day

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Here are a few essential things to keep in mind to ensure that you have the best wedding day possible.

As you pick out your wedding outfit and plan the final touches for the big day, it’s important to keep your safety and health in mind. It isn’t as much fun to think about as your veil or wedding garter, but it’s just as essential. Ensuring that you’re comfortable on your wedding day will also make you look better in photos and have a better time on your big day!

After all, it’s hard to smile and be in a good mood when you’re in pain. Here are a few things to remember so that you’re comfortable on your wedding day.

Let Yourself Breathe

Let’s face it; there’s a lot of pressure about looking as small as possible on your wedding day. It could be coming from a critical mother-in-law or articles advising you to “shed weight for the wedding.” It could be coming from the bridal stylist or a well-meaning friend. If you encounter this pressure, know that you’re not alone.

Countless brides encounter this pressure while wedding planning, no matter how small they already are. Remember, all that matters is how you feel. If you feel beautiful and confident in your body, that confidence will show!

Besides, while tightlacing and sizing down your shapewear can be tempting, we would highly recommend you don’t do that. Too-small shapewear or tight-laced corsets can quickly become uncomfortable or even painful. In extreme cases, some brides even faint due to the restrictive garments!

Just let yourself breathe on your big day. You’ll feel much more beautiful and confident when you’re not in pain or extreme discomfort, and no one will be able to tell the difference.

Get Ready To Dance

Most brides want to wear heels of some kind for the ceremony and formal dances. As long as you make sure your heels aren’t too high and are comfortable to walk in, they shouldn’t hurt your feet.

However, dancing in heels can become painful quickly. We recommend bringing a pair of ballet flats or even sneakers to the reception!

Some brides like to plan an entirely new outfit for the reception, such as a jumpsuit or short dress. This makes it much easier to dance the night away!

If a second outfit isn’t in the budget or you want to wear your gown the entire evening, that’s OK too. You’ll have stunning pictures of you partying in your dress! However, make sure that your tailor installs a bustle into your gown. This will make it much easier to dance and walk around without tripping over your train or being stepped on by your wedding guests.

And once you have your dress and outfit picked out, you’ll need to choose your bridesmaid’s dresses. They need comfort, too! If you aren’t sure where to start, check out our guide to choosing bridesmaids’ dresses here.

Prepare a Comfortable Atmosphere

Preparing a comfortable atmosphere is essential to being comfortable on your wedding day. This is where the small details really come into play.

Even if you have an indoor wedding, you should prepare for the weather. If you’re getting married in the cooler months, have a shawl or warm coat on hand for traveling to and from the venue. If your wedding is in the summer, carry a small fan to cool you down if you start to overheat (wedding dresses are hot!).

If your wedding event is outside, you have more work cut out for you. Firstly, you’ll need to prepare for bad weather at your outdoor event, just in case. You will also need to plan to accommodate yourself and your guests based on the weather. You can heat or cool wedding tents to make everyone comfortable, so take into account the date of your wedding and the temperature. Having all these fine details laid out ahead of time will make your wedding day far less stressful.
