Mariam Timmer may have been the underdog of the first season of The Real Housewives of Lagos, however, this second season, she is making statements. She is not just stirring drama with her strong personality but also turning heads with her impeccable fashion sense.
The best part? Most of her wardrobe is a testament to the immense talent of Nigerian designers. From Lisa Folawiyo to Matopeda Atelier, it just keeps on giving!
Let’s dive into some of her looks so far this season.
The Power of Red
Episode 1 was titled ‘The Queens are Here’ and they are indeed! For her confessional in this episode, Mariam rocked a glittering, body-hugging red lace dress from Matopeda Atelier. The dress’s modern design, eye-catching feathers, and shimmer made her stand out.
Orange Is The New Black
To table her issues with Tiannah from the first season, Mariam donned an orange body-hugging mini dress by Tribe of Elzar for a lunch date. The dress’s vibrant color perfectly complemented her dark skin, and the playful design was the right touch to such a bold color, making it a standout look in episode 1.
Auction Party Statement
The Hook-Up? This episode should have been titled, ‘Fashion Girlies Unite!’ One of the main focuses of episode 2 was Chioma’s yard sale, an auction held to fund her charity foundation, The Good Way Foundation.
The looks were giving and Mariam rocked a body-hugging gown resembling a long skirt and a crop top, by Tribe of Elzar. The dress’s innovative design made her stand out, effectively merging comfort and style.
Ankara 2.0
For Dr Rommel’s and Faith Morey’s Botox party in episode 3, Mariam graced our screens in a beautiful Ankara-print two-piece that had everyone talking. It was a creation by Lisa Folawiyo, a Lagos-based designer known for blending traditional prints with modern silhouettes.
Breezy Casual
Mariam had a casual get-together in her home where Iyabo was invited. She candidly shared her struggles with having another child with the viewers in episode 3 during an intimate and vulnerable discussion on fertility and childbirth, with Iyabo and Hadiza, her cousin. She donned a breezy, knitted two-piece by, you guessed it, Lisa Folawiyo! The outfit was perfect for the Lagos sun and showed that local designers don’t just excel in red carpet looks.
Mariam Timmer’s wardrobe choices this season have not only upped the fashion game on RHOLagos but have also highlighted the vast pool of talent in Nigeria’s fashion scene. As she expertly elevates casual elegance, we can’t wait to see what other style statements she’ll make as the season progresses!
