“Living in Lagos has taught me how to put together one outfit that works for several occasions/events. There are so many things happening in Lagos; you can go from a wedding to a cocktail party, then to the club all in one day! Keeping that in mind, I try to wear outfits that work for every occasion.” – Deola Adebiyi (Omogemura.com)

Living in Lagos affects my style by restricting my freedom to wear what I want to especially when it comes to the length of clothing. I live in a country where you can be called names for wearing shorts on the road and looked at funny for sporting a certain type/color of hairstyle.
I’m from a country where the heat level has already wiped out any dreams of experimenting with layering. You want to keep it, simple least you have a heatstroke
I won’t say I’ve found ways around it because I still don’t wear shorts on the road and the constraints from the reasons I gave are still there but I basically try to not let myself be bothered by the stares and make the most with what I have.” – Cassandra Ikegbune (www.cassiedaves.com)

“Lagos can be likened to a fashion capital, hence living here has definitely influenced my style. To stay up to date, I ensure I find new and creative Ways to wear pieces from my closet while retaining my personal style” – Tosin Alabi (Africanismcosmopolitan.com).

“First of all, when you’re in Lagos, you can’t dull. This is because it is a city where everyone brings their A-game when it comes to fashion. I would say living in Lagos keeps me on my toes and makes me want to stand out a bit by not following the trends, but focusing on what basically flatters my body and makes me look good.

As for where I shop, my friends know me well, I love shopping online, from Asos to boohoo to Missguided, etc. I also love buying African print fabrics and making different styles that interest me at the time. There are also a
few local stores I pay a visit to once in a while.” – Velma Williams (Infashionrehab.com).

“I have a dramatic fashion style so I like experimenting with different looks . In Lagos, the weather is perfect- on cold days I can wear leather or a trench without people looking at me crazy.” – Sayedero Enytan (Thefashionengineer.com).

Living in Lagos has taught me a lot of lessons when it comes to my personal style. Considering the unforeseen Lagos traffic, sometimes I tend to subject myself to wearing pieces that I can transition from my 9 to 5 to a happy hour, without much need for a change of clothes. And of course, I also try to make sure that I find comfort, confidence, and elegance in whatever I wear. If I have to wear heels out in Lagos, there must be flat shoes around me.” – Esther Michael.
