Golf Course Chic: How to Look Good on the Green this Season

The nice weather is here and it is time for you to hit the golf course once again. However, sometimes you may wonder what to wear while playing golf. It goes without saying that you should be comfortable and have enough space to move around while playing, but that doesn’t mean that you have to look shabby. Instead, you can easily look fabulous and be comfy simultaneously, without endangering your game.

Hats

Since you will be spending several hours in the open field, it is safe to say that the first thing to pick out of your closet is a nice hat. However, the size of the hat shouldn’t block your vision or obstruct your movement so you wouldn’t spoil your game. One of the safest styles to pick is a cap and you can look into the Callaway models and pick your favorite. Another piece of advice is to match your hat to the rest of the outfit and your outfit will be impeccable.

Polo Shirts

It is important to have a comfortable shirt while playing golf, but you don’t have to look plain and boring. Golfers of all ages are known for wearing polo shirts to these events, and you can do so as well. And if you’d like to join in on polo shirts, you have a variety of colors and styles to choose from, including button-down, V-neck, and long and short sleeves, and if you are a female player you may even want to get yourself a shirt with a floral or striped print.

The Bottom Half

When it comes to your bottom half, choose the garments according to the weather, as you would do for your top half. However, there is one general rule about pants and shorts, and it is about having belt loops so you can wear a belt. If it’s a bit colder outside, you can pick clacks and colored chinos and still look stylish, and during the summer you can rely on Bermuda shorts, capris, shorter slacks, and crops. However, when choosing shorter options, beware that certain clubs have their own rules about the length of shorts and skirts, and it shouldn’t be more than 4 inches above your knee. Also, you should avoid being too casual and avoid wearing sundresses, sweats, leggings, and athletic pants.

Comfy Shoes

Footwear is important when it comes to golf since you will be spending hours on your feet. However, even though they are an important part of an outfit, your shoes shouldn’t be too casual to look good. You should choose golf shoe models that have soft spikes because they are not damaging for the ground and they provide firm footing (and can look great). Also, some clubs will allow wearing running shoes, if those go better with your outfit and provide more comfort. Lastly, don’t forget about proper golfing socks in any color of your choosing, they should just absorb moisture well and provide the utmost comfort.

Accessories

An outfit isn’t complete without some accessories, but when it comes to golf outfits, you don’t want to overdo it. Your cap, visor, or a hat will already provide enough accessories and for some, that can be enough. Plus, if you coordinate your headgear with the rest of the outfit, it can make a statement. However, if you want to add a bit more to it, you can opt for sunglasses with the right protection for your eyes from UV rays and a watch. Those two should be enough and complete your outfit and they won’t provide obstacles for your movement and game.

No one says you can’t play golf and look good, but you should remember that there are rules. Most clubs have specific rules when it comes to clothing, but you can coordinate colors, prints, and fabrics to look good. And don’t forget that you should be able to move freely and be comfortable.
