In a rare late-winter treat of 70 degrees Fahrenheit in NYC, Kristen Stewart embraced the warmer weather by shedding her pants and opting for a more daring wardrobe choice.

The actor was seen frolicking through downtown’s cobblestone streets in cable knit panties and not much else. This is not the first time Stewart has embraced the underwear-as-outerwear trend, as she and her stylist, Tara Swennen, have been incorporating it into her press tour wardrobe for her new film, Love Lies Bleeding.

Stewart’s promotional run for the film kicked off with her showing up to the L.A. premiere in an extremely high-cut bodysuit from upcycled retail line Bettter. She eschewed pants in favor of sheer black tights, making a bold statement and setting the tone for her unconventional style choices.

Yesterday’s outfit showcased a more wearable take on this trend, acknowledging that while it may be fashion-forward, most people will not be relying on a simple pair of undies as their main defense against the unpredictable elements of the city.

But Kristen Stewart isn’t like most people, as evident in the photos capturing her quiet coolness while strutting in creamy cable knit underwear with mocha-brown trimming. The understated hero piece is from Brunello Cucinelli’s Spring 2024 ready-to-wear collection, showcasing Stewart’s confidence and ability to pull off unique fashion choices effortlessly.

The top half of Stewart’s ensemble included a pale beige collared shirt, also from Brunello Cucinelli. Only the very top button was fastened, revealing a sliver of a nude Victoria’s Secret bra underneath.

This subtle touch added an alluring element to her overall look. Stewart completed her outfit with nude tights, dark cherry pumps, maroon shades, and a black Chanel bag.

Kristen Stewart’s fashion is often described as edgy, unique, and boundary-pushing. She consistently challenges conventional norms and embraces a style that is all her own. Speaking to Rolling Stone recently about her new movie, Stewart who plays a queer gym manager falling in love with a female bodybuilder, described her character as “fun.”

“It was really fucking fun to be allowed to have the little, dykey sister be the main protagonist in a movie,” Stewart said of her character. “That’s never the main character in a movie. That’s never the one that you want to fuck. I mean, that’s the one some people do, but not the one that you are prescribed to want to fuck.”

She continued: “I never have felt like I have performed a femininity in order to reap its benefits in a way that felt like a lie. I’m very fluid, and I’ve never felt like, ‘Oh, wow, I was doing this lie for a long time in order to get jobs.’ That would be wrong. I have had a good time playing with all of the tonal qualities. But there’s so much room for success when you choose the girlie one. There’s no room for this other one.”
