Viola Davis is marking a great milestone with her husband, Julius Tennon.
The award-winning actress took to Instagram last night to celebrate the true friendship they share in a sweet and powerful message on their 24th marriage anniversary.
Sharing a fabulous portrait taken with her actor and television producer husband, The Woman King actress wrote, “24 years of friendship, love and connection. You make me feel alive. ❤️.”
In the photo backdropped with colorful roses, Davis looks both polished and chic in an off-the-shoulder, floral knee-length dress with coordinated court shoes, facing each other with a cute smile, while Tennon looks suave in a checkered grey blazer, navy blue pants, and dark brown dressing shoes. The actress wore her hair in a short bob and highlighted her black beauty with bold red lips.
Davis and Tennon met in 1999 on the set of the CBS television drama series “City of Angeles.” The pair became friends and were married in 2003, making the EGOT winner the stepmother to Tennon’s two children from previous relationships.
However, the couple adopted their daughter, Genesis, in 2011, and have been living happily as a family. In an interview she gave some time ago, the star actress narrated how she imagined the husband that she’s now together with for almost 25 years.
“I said I want a big Black man from the south who’s probably been married before,” Davis told Oprah Winfrey during the Oprah + Viola: A Netflix Special Event to promote Davis’ memoir, Finding Me. “Has kids, because I don’t want any pressure in that department…Someone who’s maybe been an actor who understands the artistic community. Someone who goes to church and loves God. I said, ‘If you give me that, I’ll start going to church, God. I really will. I’m committed to it.’ And then I signed off, just like writing a letter.”
