Model Adut Akech is Pregnant With Her Second Child

Supermodel Adut Akech has announced she is expecting her second child.

The 26-year-old South Sudanese-Australian shared the news on Instagram, posting photos of her baby bump. The announcement comes just in time for the fashion month. As a prominent figure in the fashion industry, Akech, who has worked with brands such as Chanel, Valentino, and Saint Laurent, continues to inspire her global audience through her personal achievements.

On February 9, 2026, Akech announced her pregnancy by sharing seven elegant maternity photos on Instagram, where she has over a million followers. Wearing minimalist, form-fitting outfits, she conveyed both serenity and strength. In one image, Akech cradles her belly in a chocolate-brown draped top, her hair in soft waves as she looks thoughtfully into the distance.

Another photo features her daughter, Kiki, placing her hands on her mother’s bump, symbolizing her upcoming role as a big sister.

She captioned the post: “Baby #2   Kiki entering her big sister era    God’s divine timing is truly perfect. To be blessed once again with the sacred gift of life is the greatest honor of my life.” The announcement received thousands of likes and congratulatory comments from fans, fellow models, and celebrities, highlighting Akech’s influence in both fashion and personal spheres.

Akech has previously shared personal milestones with her followers. She began her journey into motherhood in 2024, announcing her first pregnancy in a Vogue interview. At 24, she revealed she was 30 weeks along, having discovered the pregnancy after a vivid dream prompted her to take several tests.

She described it as a “beautiful feeling” and expressed her long-standing wish to become a young mother, inspired by her own mother, who had her at 20. Akech has often spoken about wanting a large family, ideally four to six children, and her first pregnancy supported that vision. She welcomed her daughter, Kiki, in November 2024, after a private pregnancy focused on her health and well-being.

Kiki’s birth marked a new chapter for Akech and her partner, Samuel Elkhier. The couple, who married in an intimate ceremony in 2024, have kept their relationship largely private, though social media offers glimpses of their strong bond.

Elkhier has supported Akech throughout her career, including during her first pregnancy, when they celebrated with a gender reveal party for close family and friends. As they prepare for their second child, the family dynamic continues to evolve. Kiki, who appeared with her mother on the cover of POP Magazine in March 2025, is preparing to become a big sister.

Akech’s pregnancies have coincided with her demanding career, prompting breaks from the fashion week circuit. During her first pregnancy, announced in summer 2024, she managed morning sickness and fatigue while fulfilling professional obligations. She chose to step back from the intense fashion schedule to prioritize her health and motherhood.

This break allowed her to recharge and focus on family, a decision she values. With her second pregnancy coinciding with the February 2026 fashion weeks, Akech has indicated she may take another hiatus. She has emphasized the importance of balance and how motherhood has reshaped her career perspective.

“I always said I wanted to be a young mom because I love the idea of growing up with your kids,” she told Vogue, highlighting how her close relationship with her own mother influenced her decisions.

These breaks have not diminished her professional standing. Instead, the break has made her more relatable in an industry often criticized for its relentless pace.

Born in South Sudan and raised in a Kenyan refugee camp before moving to Australia at age seven, she has become one of the most sought-after models of her generation. Recognized as Model of the Year at the 2019 British Fashion Awards and featured on Time’s Next 100 list, Akech uses her platform to advocate for diversity and representation in fashion. Her pregnancies further enrich her story, demonstrating how she integrates family into her legacy.

Social media has responded enthusiastically to the announcement. On X, users have expressed excitement, with some playfully envious posts and others recognizing Akech as a role model for young mothers.
