Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda S/S 2015: Ballet Meets High Fashion

Dolce and Gabbana presented last weekend an extravagant ballet-inspired show alongside their s/s 2015 Alta Moda collection; the presentation that combined both beauty, dance, opera, and couture.

Held over the course of three days in Milan, the Alta Moda spectacle started with a showcase of Dolce & Gabbana high jewellery, inspired by fruit and flowers as they were shown in individual cabins filled with vegetation.

The show featured live performances by internationally famous American Ballet Theatre’s principal dancer Roberto Bolle and his talented partner Beatrice Carbone that captivated the fashion crowd with their elegance and their ethereal Dolce & Gabbana costumes.

According to reports, the collection was a clever mix of the designers’ codes —their usual baroque, ultra feminine tsar inspired touches were there—only that this time the ballet references took the reins, especially in the first part of the show that paid direct homage to ballet’s classic apparel with a series of silk tulle ballerina gowns, tutu inspired dresses, velvet capes, embellished short jackets and tight, high-waisted trousers. The second part was definitely more minimal, featuring a selection of 15 sensual black dresses, styled with impressive tiaras and red lips.
