These Are The Worst Things To Wear To The Airport

Just in time for summer holiday where a lot of you have already created the ultimate packing list which may include your favorite crop top, off-the-shoulder top, skinny jeans, commuter shoes and many more, we’re hellbent to ensure you have a smooth pass at the airport security, because, actually it can sometimes be annoying. Of course, you wouldn’t want to be screened like a drug lord, in that case, whether you’re jet-setting soon or not, it’s recommended your outfit is checkpoint-friendly. All thanks to the guys at WhoWhatWear who sat with Kimberly Pruitt, a former security officer at Los Angeles International Airport to fill us in with what may likely cause delays when going through the security. According to the TSA agent, maxi dresses and skirts, metal bracelet, and necklaces are a no-no. Read it below:

For maxi dresses and skirts, Pruitt told WhoWhatWear, “If you are opposed to getting patted down, then wearing a maxi skirt or dress isn’t your best bet because the officer will have to check you are not hiding anything under your skirt.

For lots of Bobby Pins, Pruitt says, “Believe it or not, too many bobby pins will set off the metal detector. If you’re looking to maintain your hair and skip the pat-down, I would suggest getting dolled up after a screening.”

She also said that “Cargo pants and shorts are one of the most difficult items of clothing at the airport. All the different pockets become a major hassle because they almost always set off the alarm. When being told by an officer to remove everything from your pockets, there is always a lighter or set of keys that you’ve forgotten in a hidden pocket.”

And the last but not least, Pruitt advised that your “Large metal bracelets and necklaces will set off the metal detector. The biggest problem item is the Cartier Love bracelet. These bracelets can only be removed with a screwdriver, so they become an issue when going through security. It might be wise to put your jewelry on after screening to avoid a pat-down.”
