The Metropolitan Museum of Art has come to a tough decision, concluding that there will no more Met Gala for 2020. Of course, the decision is due to the current global Covid-19 pandemic that is causing uncertainty. The event was previously announced for postponement back in March, but looking at the situation, there’s no option than calling it off for this year “due to the global health crisis.”
Met Gala, often held on the first Monday in the month of May is known for it’s extravagant and extraordinary fashion display and has been one of the biggest fashion nights in the past with a flock of superstars making appearances every year.
This year’s theme was expected to be a reflection of fashion as time to commemorate the Met’s 150th-anniversary. It was inspired by the great work of the 20th-century French philosopher, Henri Bergson, and the writings of Virginia Woolf.
Although the annual event has officially been scrubbed, the Costume Institute’s exhibition, About Time: Fashion and Duration will still open its doors on October 29 and run through February 7, 2021.
