After a series of deliberations, Paris haute couture fashion week shows has been confirmed to go digital this July. Since inception, this will be the first time the hotly anticipated couture week will treat the audience to a virtual digital experience. Of course, it’s no more news that the decision is as a result of the global Covid-19 pandemic.
The event will kickstart from 6th through 8th of July and will feature 16 French fashion powerhouses that have met the criteria in terms of craftsmanship in dressmaking. The brands in question include Chanel, Christian Dior, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Maison Margiela, Schiaparelli, and Givenchy.
According to Vogue’s report, the sixteen brands overseen by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture and under the umbrella of Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode ‘will host videos from accredited couture Maisons on a dedicated platform.’
Seven international labels that also meet the same couture criteria will also participate in the digital couture week and that includes Armani Privé, Azzedine Alaïa, Elie Saab, Fendi Couture, Valentino, Versace, and Viktor & Rolf, as well as other eighteen guest members from around the world, has been given the pass to showcase.
Considering the past couture weeks, no one is expecting the three days of online couture shows to match the previous ones, but notwithstanding, it will certainly reposition the fashion in week in an innovative form—an experience you wouldn’t want to miss. The Paris’s menswear week (July 9 to 13) and Milano Fashion Week Digital (July 14 to 17) are also expected to follow suit immediately.
