Famed Fashion Designer, Oscar De La Renta Dies At 82

World renowned fashion designer, Oscar De La Renta, who dressed former first ladies Jackie Kennedy and Hillary Clinton, has passed away few hours ago at age 82 after being diagnosed with cancer in 2006.  

The celebrated designer was born in the Dominican Republic in 1932 and studied painting at the Academy of San Fernando in Madrid before assisting in the atelier’s of Cristóbal Balenciaga and Lanvin, launching his New York-based line in 1965.

Throughout his decades-long career, the famed fashion designer has dressed A-List celebrities and iconic public figures, including Jacqueline Kennedy and Michelle Obama. Most recently he created George Clooney’s bride Amal Alamuddin’s wedding gown, and throughout his eponymous career, has created a legacy of beautiful ready-to-wear collections. The designer had been awarded the lifetime achievement award of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. He was also involved in the fragrance and accessories business.
