Selena Gomez Shimmered in a Black Sequin Gown at the TIFF Premiere of Emilia Pérez

The Toronto International Film Festival is one of the hottest tickets for celebrity fashion moments. In fact, it’s one of the highlights of the entire red carpet season, attracting the hottest names in Hollywood and a host of celebrities.

Not to be surprised, Selena Gomez made her mark on the red carpet for the premiere of her new movie Emilia Pérez, looking atypically ladylike in a stunning custom Rodarte black sequin gown.

The gorgeous number featured striking oversized flower embellishment and intricate sequin detailing that shimmered under the lights. Gomez opted for a timeless hairstyle, wearing her dark brown locks styled in soft waves that cascaded gracefully down her shoulders. A bold red lip completed her red carpet look, adding a pop of color to the monochromatic ensemble.

At the premiere, Gomez shared insights into her experience working on Emilia Pérez, highlighting the valuable lessons she learned on set. “Probably that I am worthy and that I’m capable,” the singer-turner-actress told Elle. “I’m doing more than I give myself credit for. So I’m really proud of this project.”

In addition to her role in Emilia Pérez, Gomez is set to make a notable appearance at this year’s Emmys on Sunday, where she will be presenting and is also nominated for her first Best Actress in a Comedy Series award for her role in “Only Murders in the Building.” This recognition further solidifies Gomez’s talent and versatility as an actress in the entertainment industry.

Emilia Pérez is a Spanish-language French musical crime comedy directed by Jacques Audiard and also stars Zoe Saldana. The film’s unique storytelling and talented cast have generated buzz among film enthusiasts, and Gomez’s involvement in the project adds another layer of excitement for her fans.

This, however, comes amid her interview with Vanity Fair on Monday, where she revealed that she faces medical issues that prevent her from carrying her own children.

“I haven’t ever said this,” she told the publication, “but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.”

The singer is, however, open to surrogacy or adoption, as she expressed her appreciation for women who are willing to be mothers. “I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me.

“It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people. I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different,” she added.
