Hollywood A-list actress Zendaya was one of the few faces that graced the red carpet at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center (NMACC) opening in Mumbai over the weekend. The Euphoria star was accompanied by her boyfriend Tom Holland, and her long-time stylist Law Roach, who styled her for the event. Her look was the center of all eyes, as the actress embodied a modern Indian princess, as she dazzled in a stunning custom-made sari-inspired creation by Rahul Mishra.
In midnight blue, star-adorned element, with a gold bralette, the beautiful confection was an alluring blend of modern and traditional Indian style. The combo proved to be a perfect choice for Zendaya’s statuesque frame, showcasing her striking slender shoulders. The look was minimally accessorized with simple stud earrings, which added to the elegance and beauty of the draped garment.
Mishra, the designer of the outfit, had a lot of work put into the creation in order to bring out the royal, regal vibes of the NMACC grand opening.
The new Cultural Centre will celebrate music, theatre, fine arts, and crafts, so the outfit was crafted with utmost reverence and understanding of India’s traditional heritage with a modern twist. Her stylist Roach presumably wanted the outfit to embody grace, just like Zendaya, and transmit a strong message that unites art and culture.
Not only did Zendaya enchant everyone with her regal, glamorous look, but her mere presence at the event was also a testament to her passion for cultural appreciation and inclusion. She has long been praised for her fashion sense, choosing bold and brave looks with purpose and cultural understanding. What better way than to attend one of India’s most grand openings and make an elegant statement, in her own unique way.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time Zendaya is wearing Rahul Mishra who made history after becoming the first Indian designer to be invited to showcase at the Haute Couture Week in Paris. He’s also the designer who dressed Gigi Hadid in another stunning confection at the Friday night NMACC gala, which as per the designer, took over 2,400 hours of sequins and beads embellishment.
Zendaya first wore a look by the designer in 2020 at the Manhattan Bulgari event, where she was officially welcomed as one of the faces of the luxury jewelry brand, alongside Naomi Scott, Kris Wu, and Lily Aldridge. At the event, Zendaya dressed up in a white avant-garde sheer and feathered creation, complete with a pair of black pants and a layered necklace from the brand.
“We decided for the first time to have a man as the protagonist for this campaign and had gone through a roster of very complementary talents,” Chief executive officer Jean-Christophe Babin of Bulgari explained why it chose the brand ambassadors. “Zendaya is epitomizing the Generation-Z spirit, Naomi Scott is British and Indian—it’s this combination that is evidence of the diversity of Bulgari. It’s not a brand only for Americans or Chinese. It’s a global economy with global diversity and we are acknowledging the universal appeal of the brand.”
