Zendaya Walked The 2024 Met Gala in Two Gorgeous Gowns
The Met Gala is known for showcasing some of the most iconic and extravagant fashion moments, and Zendaya never fails to deliver. As a co-chair for the 2024 event, she made quite the entrance in not just one, but two stunning looks, setting the bar high for the night.
The theme for this year’s Met Gala was “The Garden of Time,” in line with the exhibition’s theme of “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” Zendaya, known for always interpreting the theme with grace and creativity, did not disappoint.
Her first look, a period blue gown designed by John Galliano for Maison Margiela, turned heads as she made her way down the red carpet. Despite stylist Law Roach’s last-minute doubts, claiming the dress wasn’t ready, Zendaya proved him wrong with a timeless and elegant ensemble.

It was also composed of bands of hand-painted metallic crin, iridescent organza, and a meticulously hand-embroidered corsage. This haute couture ensemble was accompanied by a striking headpiece crafted by Stephen Jones for Margiela.

This time, she opted for a long black gown with a corseted bodice and a dramatic train, accented by a bold headpiece in the shape of a bouquet, from Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2007 collection. Although originally paired with a different dress on the runway, the headpiece effortlessly complements Zendaya’s vintage-inspired look.
What makes this even more intriguing is that the dress was sourced from LILY et Cie, a highly coveted archival boutique owned by Rita Watnick in Los Angeles; a treasure trove for haute couture and rare designer pieces. It’s also quite serendipitous that the dress happens to be from the same year Zendaya was born.

The following year, in 2018, the actress took on a modern interpretation of Joan of Arc, captivating everyone with a custom Versace armor creation. Last night was no exception—the fashion icon effortlessly stole the spotlight once again.
