Lupita Nyong’o is no stranger when it comes to the Oscars red carpet.

Last night (March 2, 2025), the actress graced the Oscars red carpet, once again showcasing her signature elegance and impeccable style.

Nyong’o’s custom creation was nothing short of a masterpiece – a gown made from ivory charmeuse, featuring intricate pleating, along with a resille bustier that was embroidered with dazzling silver crystal bugle beads.

The pièce de résistance? An astonishing 22,000 pearls adorned the dress, adding a luxurious and ethereal quality that shimmered under the lights.

The gown’s design was inspired by look 74 from the Chanel Haute Couture Spring-Summer 1991 show, a nod to timeless fashion blended with contemporary artistry.

Completing the look were pearl straps, cabochons, tassels, and an ivory satin belt topped with a bow at the waist. It’s worth noting that the stunning gown required an incredible 660 hours of meticulous work and featured a total of 22,410 embroidery elements, exemplifying the dedication and craftsmanship that went into bringing this vision to life.

In addition to her stunning fashion statement, Nyong’o’s presence at the Oscars was also to celebrate her recent work in the animated film “The Wild Robot.”

The film, which stars a distinguished cast including Pedro Pascal, Kit Connor, Mark Hamill, Bill Nighy, and Stephanie Hsu, received three nominations: Best Original Score, Best Sound, and Best Animated Feature.

Nyong’o expressed her excitement about the film through a photo carousel shared on her Instagram. She captioned it, “My photos 🤳🏿 from a wild and wonderful time sharing @TheWildRobot with the world. Can’t wait to celebrate this special film one last time on Sunday at the Academy Awards 🤖🫶🏿🐣.”

This heartfelt message reflected her enthusiasm and connection to her latest project as she prepared for one of the film industry’s most prestigious nights.

Lupita Nyong’o is also no stranger to the spotlight, having captured the world’s attention when she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her unforgettable performance in “12 Years a Slave” in 2014.

This year, her return to the Oscars highlighted her continued success in the industry and also served as a reminder of her resilience and poise, especially as she recently opened up about her 2015 Oscars dress being stolen on her podcast, “Mind Your Own.”
