The Gorgeous Dresses From 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards

On Saturday, May 10, the moment we’ve all been waiting for arrived: The 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, and like always, the evening ceremony kicked off with a star-studded red carpet. But before the stars even descended on the red carpet at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos, the social media feed was already spilling with the snapshots of Nigerian celebrities in their most beautiful dresses of the year.

Historically, the AMVCAs are like the Oscars of Africa — a platform for some of the unforgettable celebrity looks — whether it’s a Nigerian, South African, or Ghanaian star, the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards always bring the best in Fashion. 

There were plenty of nominees for the 11th edition of the AMVCAs, but a few ended up taking home the awards. Chioma Chukwuka, who was nominated for the Best Lead Actress for the movie Seven Doors, beat out everyone in the category to win the trophy.

She was nominated among other actresses like Gbubemi Ejeye in Farmer’s Bride, Uzoamaka Onuoha in Agemo, Uche Montana in Thinline, Uzoamaka Aniunoh in Phoenix Fury, and Hilda Dokubo in The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3, as well as Bimbo Ademoye in Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre.

Mercy Aigbe also secured the Best Supporting Actress award in the movie Farmer’s Bride, over Meg Otanwa in Inside Life, Tina Mba in Suspicion, and Ireti Doyle in All’s Fair in Love. Other nominees in the category included Ini Dima-Okojie in Skeleton Coast, Omoni Oboli in The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3, and Darasimi Nnadi in Aburo.

Speaking of the red carpet looks, there seemed to be some kind of style war, with the stylish actresses serving looks that will remain engraved in our style book. Case in point: Nana Akua Addo’s stunning futuristic confection, Mercy Aigbe’s moon-inspired number, and Osas Ighodaro’s mother earth ensemble — both created by Veekee James.
