Kente fashion is synonymous with Ghanaians. It’s a major Ghanaian textile often worn at weddings and special traditional ceremonies. For us who are not Ghanaians or living in the West African country, we have had days we’ve so longed for the vibrant fabric or just to have a feel of the fabulous material made of handwoven cloth, strips of silk, and cotton.
It’s no wonder why Nancy Isime favored the Kente fashion with her own twist when she touched Ghana over the weekend for the 8th Annual EMY Awards (a.k.a Exclusive Men of the Year Awards). As the host of the event known to celebrate distinguished men in Africa, the Nigerian TV host and actress pulled out all the stops for the stunning Ghanaian attire, and here is she looking like a million-dollar package delivered from Nigeria to Ghana.
For the glamorous evening that took place at the Accra International Conference Centre, Isime worked with Goba Kente — a bespoke fashion label in Ghana, to give the colorful African fabric a stylish treatment, in a 2-piece set featuring a bra top and mini skirt. The Nigerian TV host accessorized her look with a pile of glass beads (popularly called “ahwenie”) on her neck, wrists, and waist, complete with a headpiece and staff.
“Last Night, I had the most incredible time hosting the 8th Annual EMY Awards in this stunning Ghanaian traditional attire,” Isime captioned while sharing the photos with her fans on social media.
She was working on stage alongside Nathaniel Attoh, a Ghanaian MC who dressed in an all-black look with a Kente scarf adding as finishing touches.
